Did you put a new cap on the radiator? Small as it seems, if it does not provide an adequate seal on the radiator, than the system does not get pressurized, thus keeping the boiling point around 212 deg. your engine gets way hotter than than normally. When sealed right, the pressurized system raises the boiling point to close to 300. thats how is works. If thats not it,(assuming it is the last thing replaced) than you might have either a cracked head/ head gasket/ valve guides, cooling ports, basic large dollar items. Lets hope for your sake the problem is still in the cooling system, before you look at the motor. If you take out the sparkplugs, you'll be able to tell real quick, rusty, burnt whitish-orange looking condition. Good luck

Replaced radiator and tstat still over heating, water pump a little over a month old

my used 4 cyl jeep radiator would only drain 1/2 of the fluid. jumped up and down on bumper and this dislodged the sludge in radiator and/or engine. flushed twice, then now notice low temp reading on gauge (out of specs) due to a low temp thermostat that someone installed due to previous over heating (sludge). Replace with factor spec thermostat and everything is fine.

1997 jeep wrangler overheating

bought a used 97 jeep that apparently had the same problem and had a low temp thermostat installed in attempt to cure the problem. I noticed when draining the radiator that only 1/2 of fluid came out. I jumped up/down on bumper and dislodged sludge and other half of fluid. Flushed system twice and then noticed temp gauge was now registering low, out of specs. Placed in correct thermostat and all problems solved.

2003 jeep wrangler temp guage keeps going up and down.the check gauge light goes off and on. appears to be overheating

It sounds like you need a new thermostat. Have a trusted mechanic replace your thermostat, shouldn't cost more than $20-30. The thermostat is located in your thermostat housing on the engine and is connected to the Upper Radiator Hose. Remove the 2 bolts and change the thermostat.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.0L)...The temperature gauge slowly heads to the "Red" as if it my car were overheating, but the there are no signs of overheating and the Coolant in the reservoir...

When running the engine TOUCH the bottom part of the radiator fins, if the temperature is not the same or cold, u got a blocked radiator FiNS, and u need to replace it! Check also ur Radiator fan, note down what temperature it started to work. If the Fan works at high temp, means ur TEMPERATURE SENSOR switch for rad fan is not working or it has a higher temp operating value! Hope that might solve ur temperament! j/k!

My car is overheating.i changed the thermostat, radiator and coolant sensor.

What is the indication that the car is overheating, is it the temp gauge or is the cooling system overflowing? A high tech scan tool can read the actual engine temperature, maybe you gauge is faulty.
If car is actually overheating, other areas to check or suspect is the water pump, hoses or there maybe some obstruction in the engine itself.

My 1999 dodge neon is overheating and just changed water pump and thermostat radiator. No leaks and no water in oil. Changed thermostat again and same problem . How can you tell if water pump is bad and...

Last time I had this problem I had a cracked head. With the cap off the radiator, run the engine at idle to operating temperature. When your looking in the radiator you should see the water circulating if the water pump is working. When you say the motor is over heating, if you have fluid coming out of the over flow hose then yes you are most likely overheating, if you are just seeing the gauge indicate you are over heating you may just have a bad engine temp sensor.

Have a 1998 Chrysler Concorde with 134,000 miles. About 2 months ago it started stalling intermitently. Would stall and I could restart immediately. Now it stalls once every trip at a certain engine temp....

your car problem is overheating, some car model like yours is designed to shut-down engine when engine temp. rise so as to avoid frying the engine. your engine overheating problem is attributed by one of these factors:
1. check or refill radiator water if less
2.check radiator cooling fan operation-if damaged pls. change or check the electrical system.
3. damage/ worn water pump-if damage pls. change the water pump.
4. check for any coolant leak somewhere the coolant line-pls. rectify the leak.
5.worn coolant reservoir cap- change if damaged.
6. clogged radiator-if clogged pls. change it.
7. damaged thermostat valve.

95 jeep wrangler: gauge indicates 0 oil pressure

Wire on oil sending unit may have fallen off or sensor itself may have gone bad. Check both. If engine has no tapping noises, likely it's not a pressure problem.

Jeep wrangelr Crank Position Sensor

wall5552: there were two engines used in 1992 Jeep Wranglers.
A 2.5 liter and a 4.0 liter. HOWEVER>>>> The location for the crank angle sensor is the same for both.
It is located on the bell housing up near the front at about the 10:00 PM position.
The Cam position sensor is located in the Distributor on both engines as well.

1999 jeep wrangler 4.0 liter sport heater problem #2

Make 100% sure before you go and spend more $$$ that (1) you have good coolant flow through the heater core; get engine to operating temp, then with heater fan on high and temp control on full hot carefully grasp heater in and out hoses(i use a in-fared heat gun to diagnose). They should be very close to same temp, if not, core is plugged or if equipped with a flow control valve, its not opening or there is an air lock in system.(2) If coolant flow is good, suspect the hot/cold blend door being stuck in cold position assuming you have good air flow. Its very rare for engine cooling to be ok and heater core coolant flow be bad , caused by a failed water pump! Hope this helps! Please rate me,Thanks!
