Question about Lexus ES 300
This is usually caused by a faulty ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; are you able to get a scanner on it to check the sensors?
When this sensor fails you will just not have ABS brakes you will still have conventional brakes. You should be fine to drive it to the shop to have it fixed unless it's running rough or transmission not shifting correctly. One or more of your ABS sensors are not working correctly. You need to look for a loose connector or wire/connector damage, or damage to the sensor itself.
In your case the TRAC Control and ABS is shut off whenever the false or no input is sent to the pcm and/or ABS control unit, which sounds intermittent. Probably a wheel speed sensor. The wheel speeed sensors are used for the ABS and TRAC Control.
Hope this helps.
