Question about 1998 Plymouth Voyager

1 Answer

Fuel/emissions after driving for about 15 minutes my van spits and sputters the the more you accelerate until finally it stalls. I can let it sit for a couple of hours and it will be fine for about 15 minutes etc... I pulled a dtc of p0171(lean fuel on bank 1). Have you seen much of this?

Replace the distributer coil. and fuel filters. also your converter may be clogged. a muffler shop repair from 100 and up will help.
depending on last exhaust inspection you may concider doing all.

This can be caused by a problem in the fuel pressure check valve of the fuel pump. Have a pressure leak down test run by a shop, if the system is losing pressure then the pump assembly must be replaced. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank and is electric

Hello, I have a 99 silverado z71, I was driving along and all of the sudden it lost power and started to spit and sputter and ended up on the side of the road, sitting there it continued to idle roughly,...

Have the shop check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Maybe the pump impeller has failed. If fuel pressure is good, your timing chain/belt may have slipped.

Does your car kind of sputter? Rpm's jump and when you try to accelerate the car bogs until the end result is a stall? If so most people assume its the fuel filter and some belive its electrical, but from a sim ilar experience I found out that replacing the cam position sensor was the solution to my problem. Nothing bad has happened since. Hope this helps you pout.

Car spits and sputters and stalls after driving a while

sounds like a fuel pump problem, with fuel pumps u can have pressure but not enough volume, try goin up a steeper hill in 2nd gear and get about 3000 rpms on the engine and see if it really drops out bad and is really gutless,if that happens without a check engine light coming on it might be yur pump and u should also replace the fuel filter at the same time, hope this helps

Internal combustion engines requires 3 things... fuel, air, and spark. You do not have enough of one or more of these. If the wires and plugs are old, change them.  Air filter, same thing.  Fuel filter can also clog up with stuff after awhile. When you take a look at the air filter check where the air comes from.  It is possible a little critter has built a home and blocked the air flow (rare, but, it has happened).

Sputters on initial startup and again also 15-20 minutes after shutoff and restart

fuel pump, clogged fuel injectors, bad gas.... could also be a timing problem among other things depending on what you mean by sputtering.... my advice find a shop that will diagnose the car for free( like AAMCO). hope this helps :)

Check MAP sensor. If PCM gets wrong data from MAP sensor it should offset ignition timing and/or make fuel mixture too lean or too rich.

Stalling

Possibly faulty ignition module is the problem, stalls when engine is hot when you sit for a while it cools off and runs again until it heats up again, those are usually the symptoms of a bad ignition module and after a while it may give out all together and not run at all, usually if the module is at fault it shuts down the fuel pump so the engine don't load up with fuel, do to when engine continuously cranks over the injectors never stop squirting fuel and flood the engine do to lack of spark which is produced by the module, this could possibly be your problem.
