Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

2000 jetta. drove home and all was fine. 2 hours later, I try to start the car and nothing happens but all lights, dingers work fine. Battery is 2 months old. Any suggestions, please? I'm missing out of work :( p.s. this is a manual transmission.

Put the car in neutral and push down the clutch. turn key to start and hold there. While holding slowly let clutch up and see if it catches, if so you have a worn safety switch which happens on those. Good luck!

IT costs nothing to have a load test done on the battery to check for a dead cell which your problems point to. While the engine is running the alternator will be handling the power requirement but the battery will not supply the power required to start.

It's your Electronic Stability System. It may be malfunctioning because of the cold temperature or triggered by another malfunctioning system. You need to take it in for a diagnostic investigation.

2000 olds intrigue will not start and key transmitter does not work how do i start the car


We experienced same problem for months until nothing worked.. would not make even a click when starting. Solution, change your crankshaft. Sensor.. started right after we changed it,. Hope that works

3 days ago, i went to work no problem,had to move it after 6-7 hrs of time, would not turn on 2 try's, started like normal on 3rd. 2 days ago i drove it locally a couple of times, no problems. today...


I ran into the problem and it was corrosion on the battery terminals. on the inside against the battery. also check the the terminals for good connection.

Very same scenario...car ran fine, then bam wouldn't start


in order of likelihood, based on what you described:
bad connection @ battery
bad batt cable or terminal end
bad battery

99 TDI Jetta engine dies 3-5 seconds after startup.


the glow plugs probably need replacing, it seems they are not heating up the gas enough.
