Question about Chevrolet Cavalier

First, make certain that there are no other nuts holding the valve cover to the head. Using a rubber mallet, lightly tap the side of the cover working from one end of the engine to the other. Pull up slightly on the cover while you use the rubber mallet. It may take a few passes.
Avoid prying up on the cover with a screwdriver or pry bar.. If the valve cover is plastic, it may break. If metal, it could become bent out of shape.
