Question about 1993 Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

I HAVE A 1993 CHEV PU 350. IT STARTS FINE AND WILL MOVE FINE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WHEN I STOP AT A STOP LIGHT NO PROBLEM BUT IT FEELS LIKE ITS RUNNING RUFF. AS SOON AS I ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR IT DIES. I PUMP THE ACCELERATOR AND IT STARTS, UNTILL THE NEXT STOP LIGHT, SAME THING AGAIN. I"M GUESSING ITS THE FUEL PUMP NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH FUEL PRESSURE. SOMETIMES I'LL PUMP IT AND IT WILL NOT DIE BUT IT RUNS VERY RUFF.

TRY THE FUEL FILTER FIRST IF THE FUEL PUMP WAS GOING BAD IT WOULD STALL AS YOU PUSH ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND PUMPING THE PEDDLE WOULD NOT HELP FUEL INJECTION AND PUMPING THE GAS WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE RUNNING OF THE VEHICAL

Make sure you have m.a.p. manifold absolute presser. Old school way of checking is start it up and spray some carb cleaner or ether in small amounts! dont light it up. lol Spray around the top of the motor, and manifold if idol speeds up you have a vacum leak! PIn point it and fix! good luck

Chugs, acts like it's not getting gas once warmed up. Idle's fine

This problem can be several things. When your engine is cold, your computer is in a "closed loop" and just pretty much keeps the engine running until warmed up. After reaching operation temperature, the computer starts reading all the sensors. If one sensor is not connected or is defective, you will experience performance problems. Most of the time this will turn on the check engine light, but not always. Second is the fuel pump. This too will cause erratic engine problems.
