If your attempting to reinstall the serpintine belt , you will need to relax the tension pulley on the engine.
A serpintine tool is avaliable at most places that sell automotive tools. sometimes a 3/8 drive rachet/breaker bar can be used

You use a special tool to move the belt tensioner to release tension on the belt. Sometimes you can use a regular wrench if you have enough room.
Make sure you have a diagram or draw one of the routing of the belt before you remove it so you know how to put the new one back on.

Cant get the serpentine belt back on,it is just a little bit too tight to get the belt on, can't I just use a screwdriver to pry on the edge of the belt first? Thanks for your help.

No, don't use the screwdriver....usually one of the pulleys is adjustable. Most of the time it's the alternator. Loosen the alternator bolts slightly so you can rotate the body of the alternator to loosen the belt, then rotate to tighten the belt then tighten the alternator bolts.

Can not get alt back on because belt how do u loosen belt to get alt back on?

The tempo's uses an automatic tensioner. You need to put a wrench or insert a 3/8 ratchet into the slot on the tensoiner to movge it so you can install the belt. I'm assuming the engine is a 2.3 for which I'm sending you a diagram to see.

Timing chain

Timing chain does not need to be replaced like a timing belt. It will only need to be replaced if it starts making noise or causing problems
