If your computer is mounted under the hood the timing is not adjustable.the computer sets the timing.if it is not under the hood, then you disconnect the timing connector below the heater case on the passenger side.the wire is tan with a black stripe.set base timing to 0.hope this helps.good luck.

My 1988 Mustang 2.3 liter just put new timing belt with new coil does it have to have the spout connector plug that hangs from the distributor?

Yes, the spout connector needs to be in place. It controls the timing advance electronically of the motor based on the RPM. This is why you remove it when you are originally setting the timing, and also why you need to reinstall it after.

How set timing on 3.2 liter v6

You don't give a make or model, It differs on many makes . so you will want a manual to find how to by pass the computer. base timing is then set with a timing light. It can't be set with the computer engaged as it will keep changing the timing.

there should be marks on each gear like a dash ( - ) on one side of each gear. Those marks should be lined up directly pointing at each other so that the sides of the each gear with the mark are right next to each other..

Have a 1985 Mitsubishi Montero sport with a 4 cyclinder/how can I tell what motor that is" Just bought it for a project. And it won't start. Previous owner took off disitributor cap/and front of motor

This vehicle only came with a 2.6 liter 4 cylinder. To verify this look on the dasboard through the windshield on the driver's side towards the bottom and you will see a long number. The 8th digit from left to right should be an "E". That means it is a 2.6 liter motor.Good luck
