Question about 1994 Honda Prelude

1 Answer

I HAVE A 94 HONDA PRELUDE SI. IT HAS A H2.2 DOHC MOTOR AND A AUTOMATIC H2.3 TRANSMISSION. THE D4 LIGHT IS BLINKING, AND SOMETOME WILL STALL WHEN IM DRIVING. RECENTLY MY REVERSE STARTED SLIPPING! WHATS THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH THIS? DO I HAVE TO SPEND ALL THAT MONEY FOR A NEW TRANNY? IS IT BETTER TO BUY A USED TRANNY OR REBUILD IT? IF SO WHAT WOULD I NEED TO REBUILD IT BETTER??

If your d4 light started flashing, then that means a transmission sensor is failing, which causes your transmission to act funny.ill get back to you with a method on checking them and a list of codes to get you started, but dont go and ask for a new transmission. it might not be necessary.

i couldnt find the codes for the prelude exactly, but i found some for the 93 accord which should be really similar. its a DIY way to check for any codes on your transmissoin computer and you main computer. when you do get the codes, you might want to google to be more precise. hope this helps, goodluckhttp://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.p...

D4 light blinking hard to take off wont shift for 1993 honda prelude

The blinking light does mean there is a problem with the transmission. You may need an import shop that specializes in Hondas to look at it since most shops won't have the equipment and books to troubleshoot it.

92 Honda Prelude D4 light blinking

This is a fault code in the trans. One solution is ti disconnect tge bsttery fir 10 to 15 minutes this will reset the trans. Control unit. If thus does not work it could need a rebuild.

D4 light on 94 accord blinking

It will blink a set number of times to tell you what diagnostic trouble code it has. I would first check the fluid to make sure it is still red in color and not too low just to make sure that your not doing any damage to the transmission by driving it. Then you can get a cheap repair manual like a "Haynes" manual from any auto parts store.
I hope this info helps!~subyguru~

Will a 1993 prelude automatic transmission fit my 1992 honda accord

If it's the S model, it *should* as it has a F22 motor in it.. the Si and SE has a H23 motor, and the VTEC has a H22 motor. I have heard of people using the F22 transmission on a Prelude motor for longer gearing at highway speeds (per Honda-Tech.com), but I haven't tried the combination myself

Can you put the motor and 5 seed transmission from a 1993 acura integra into a 1994 honda prelude s

No, your car is set up for hydraulic transmission linkage and the Integra is a cable clutch. The mounting would also be a nightmare. The Integra's front motor mount is way different than the Accord and Prelude. Wiring harness would be another nightmare. Just find an Si, they are pretty cheap now.

You need to check the tcm for codes too. The s3 light is like the check engine light for the tcm. The VSS code might be your problem.

Honda prelude a/t transmission

Check transmission fluid, our cars are pretty low and unfortunately automatics transmission sit pretty low so its possible you have a leak below or are just running low on transmission fluid.
