How do I reset computer on 2005 Cadillac cts

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then go inside your car and press the break pedal for 30 seconds. That should drain the extra power and reset your computer.

How to reset pontiac g6 computer

The battery cable trick is the oldest shitiest trick in the book it solves nothing but delaying a problem and erasing the ck engine light.... I've been up and down the Pontiac G6 from no start no crank issues to climate control to pc problems these cars have way to many issues that should have been recalled of course the reason these things weren't recalled is bc GM would owe some of you guys a new car. I can help with about any G6 problem but some things aren't worth fixing

I had new brake shoes installed and my check engine light stays on now .I was told there was a trick to reset the light. Is that right?

First, changing the brake shoes has absolutely nothing to do with the check engine light being on.

Second, to get the check engine light to go off, you must begin by scanning your engine computer to find out why it has turned the light on. It is trying to tell you that one of the many systems monitored by the engine computer is malfunctioning. There is no "trick" to this, but it does require diagnostic abilities, a working knowledge of how the engine management system works and a scanner that can output live data, retrieve fault codes and reset the computer memory. Resetting the light without properly diagnosing and repairing the reason the light was on in the first place, will only result in the light coming back on. Continuing to drive the vehicle with the check engine light on can potentially destroy some pretty expensive parts of your car. I highly recommend correcting this problem as soon as possible.

Reset computer on a 2006 impala

Generally, if you leave the battery unplugged for an extended amount of time (2 days should do the trick), the computer will reset itself and any OBDII codes that have been tripped will be reset. If it is just OBDII codes that you are looking to clear, you can head to any Auto Parts Store and you should be able to buy a scanner to insert in the OBDII port in your car. From there, you should be able to clear any active codes for the time being.

2004 GMC Sierra Computer reset ??

I would suggest stopping by an AutoZOne or O'Reilly's and "borrow" their Scan Tool to erase any codes.
TO reset the "Change Oil" light, turn the ignition to ON (do NOT start the car). Press the accelerator pedal all the way down (then release) to the floor 3 times in less than 5 seconds. Change Oil light should flash then go off. If not, try it again. The trick is to get this done in 5 seconds ro less.

Can't reset monitors

you could have a break in what is called the keep alive memory power to the computer. each time you shut off the car the computer resets itself. the trick is to put enough miles on the car in one day and not shut off the ign untill you get the test done. or find the break in the keep alive memory wire to the computer.
good luck chris
