most cases this code will be trigured by a faulty throttle body sensor...this is notorious on the xjr models because the throttle body is near the firewall instead at the front like your engine..Make sure not to wet the engine near the throttle because this can cause this issue..I hope you have found the issue...

I don't know that I would worry too much. When serviced, they may have left something unplugged. They may be able to take care of this in just a few minutes tomorrow morning. If it turns out to be something bigger, let me know. Beautiful cars!

What is the recommended oil to use in 2006 XJ8L Jaguar that has 52,000 miles. I currently use Castrol but I can't remember the wt. I would like to get more mileage before the next oil change, so what...

I switched to a full synthetic oil, and never looked back. You can get 10000 miles out of full synthetic easily. Some people say you never have to change it, but i go 10000 and have for 90,000 miles and still runs smooth as the day i bought it. Castrol Syntec is a very good synthetic oil.

Jaguar XJ8 1998 3.2 cranks over but won't start, ran perfectly yesterday, although low on fuel at the time it still showed 30 miles range left.

fill with 5 gal of fuel, check fuel at motor , looks like tire valve, cover with rag and let evaporate if any comes out before starting

Replace the pcv valve. It will be on a vacuum hose the size of your finger. It's usually in the valve cover, just pushes in.

Oil

Jaguar recommends Castrol brand oil with the following comments:
5W30 is the 'preferred' weight to use for the best fuel economy, however, it's recommended to use when the outside temp is between -31 degrees F and +95degrees F. So if you live in a hot climate, they recommend 0W40, for temps between -31F and +122F, or 5W40 for temps between -22F and +122F. I'm not sure of their recommendation for how often to change the oil, but 3K miles or twice a year (whichever comes 1st) is the way to go. countrycurt0
