Question about 1997 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Timing belt? my mothers 97 honda accord is having issues again. its been worked on by 3 different places and many parts have been replaced but still the car sits dead in front of our house. after $1000 worth of work no one can give her a reason as to why the work they did didnt work. she has had curtis ryan honda run diagnostics general muffler replaced a valve cover gasket spark plugs and wires oil changes fuel filters and injector cleanings. the last guy was a private mechanic and after 420$ worth of work he got it to run for 3 weeks. it wants to start but the motor bucks and hesitates. it over heats and the last guy told her that he unhooked 3 tubes cause it made the car run better but it eats through gas with those tubes undone. im thinking they are vacumn lines and it might be the timing is advanced now. once they are hooked back up it runs like garbage. and now it just doesnt run at all. please help!!!!!

The timing system in a large part is the key operation of the motor, if neither mechanic did't go through the daunting work of replacing the timing belt its prrobably the timing belt or something in the timing system.by it being a 97 and with the mileage if the belt has never been replaced it's definitely time. sometimes a diag may not show this malfunction just since that system has a lot of parts that could cause the same problems

Used 97 honda accord wiper switch

Ask people at Junk Jard - they are professionals in their business. In most cases they will tell you you which car is suitable for donation.
Also, before you install the old switch, carefully dissemble, clean and lubricate with electric lubricant or Vaseline. It will help to prolong the life for forever.
Good luck.

you know what happens if you don't.  Inspect the old one for hairline cracks and stretch and you decide.  I would also replace the drive belts and the water pump when I was in there?

94 honda accord cuts off while driving

94-97 accord have common issue on key ignition. Key ignition seems to corroded. Solution take it apart clean or best way is to replace it. I know because I have done it to 94 accord 4 cylinders, 95 accord 6 cylinders and 97 accord 4 cylinders.

did you put REAL HONDA parts or aftermarket parts.....i bet you put aftermarket parts in it...Hondas and Toyotas are very sensitive about ignition parts...ONLY get the real deal....NO aftermarket junk. i did the same mistake with my 89 honda accord. never again...
