How to replace license plate bulb on 2004 Buick Century

You have to take out the entire back lights, Inside the trunk pull back the material and unscrew those plastic lugs. (Some years have lights on trunk when opened or under) But in my 01 the lights come up with the trunk. Remove those lugs. Take off the entire rear light assembly. You'll have easy access to the License plate bulbs. Sounds complicated but it takes a total of 10 minutes total. While your at it wash the area where the lights were on. A coat of wax left on will keep the water, moisture from rotting the surfaces. Make sure your seals are good and re-install. If the bolts are rusting put a small amount of grease on them. (Prior to re-installation of course)

License plate screw receptacle

The metal ones that came with your car are probably not going to work again, but you can purchase nylon inserts at most any part store. You will need to modify the holes to accept the new insert and you will want to apply some silicone to the opening to prevent rust from starting to the bare metal surface at the modified openings.

Tail lights work but why don't license plate lights?

The license plate lights have their own separate bulbs. If you are able to replace the bulbs, that may solve your problem. If not, you may have a loose or rusted connection to the plate bulbs only. If you are able to gain access, you may want to check the condition of the harness that supplies the power to the license plate portion. Good luck and have a great day.

Brake light and license plate lights won't work

All lights rely on a good connection between the globe base and the metal body of the car.
This is the cause of your problem.
You'll probably find rust in the globe holder stopping the globe from making a good connection.
You may have to replace the globe holders, but it will be worth trying to clean the rust back to bright steel.

No taillights or license plate light. Cannot find fuse location in manual

Hello! There isn't a fuse dedicated to just license plate/taillights...Fuses # 17, #18 and #27 power all lights, flasher and multifunction switch...Lets eliminate...Tell me what lights do work and I'll narrow down the fault...In the meantime, if you have a multimeter, set it to X10 ohms scale...Connect one lead to the CENTER of the negative battery post...Using a piece of 10 gauge wire, extend the other lead to the rear of the truck and hold it to bare metal chassis ground...Record reading...Must be very near zero ohms or dead short...Working trucks that are 8 years old have trouble with ground straps corroding or rusting through...Guru...saailer

How to change a license plate bulb on a 98 cavalier? I have pulled the wire out but the bulb would not turn or come out.

You must push in, turn, and then pull out. Many get stuck or rusted and you will need pliers or needle nose to remove
