Their is a switch down on the transmission by the shifter arm with a small two or three wire plug on it which is stuck in the reverse position. Most times you can remove and clean and it will work. Not expensive to replace with a new one..........................Hope this helps.

My 2001 Buick lesabre the battery will drain down

Ok, i've got 2 things to try.

1) Wait until you haven't driven the car for around 6 hours. Open the trunk and reach to the back of the seat and up. There, in between the rear speaker area is the radio/stereo amplifier. I had this same problem on my 01 Impala. The Amp stays on and drains the battery. If you haven't used the vehicle in a while, that Amp should be cold. If it is hot, then that is your parasitic draw on the battery. I bought a $12 dollar wire harness on Ebay that bypassed the amp.

2) your security light is an indicator of a security issue. On your vehicle the system can cause a draw when failed. This may be the issue as well.

Relay Switch / Fuse

Get a wire with a 12v light or a TEST PROBE. Put the Probe between the NEGATIVE WIRE and the NEGATIVE TERMINAL (you can also do this with a Multi-Meter (but make sure you have it set on the HIGH SETTING with the Plugs so you do not burn up your Meter.

Doors open will put a drain on your battery so shut the door and wait for the lights to go off *(up to 5 minutes).
Pull one Fuse at a time and see what happens on the Drain. When it goes down low, you have it narrowed down to a system
Then troubleshoot internally of that system.

Alternators are known to do exactly this.... Food for Thought

If you didn't remove the alarm "brains" under the ignition, your car is still being protected by the alarm. It is acting as a cut-off switch and will not let the car start. This can be resolved by taking the wiring and alarm relay with brains out. To do this look under steering column for the wires that are comming from the ignition, then which wire is going to your alarm light. That is the wire or wires that need to be removed and rewire the direct wires for ignition. Be sure to get all alarm system wires and components under dash out. From there you just wire the original wiring back together and should start car. If not, make sure your battery is not dead. The alarm can drain car battery if a relay is not working.

2000 pathfinder battery draining

Sounds like your alternator is doing nothing-the car is running only off the battery. Have your charging system checked-does your battery light stay lit? If that bulb is burnt out, that may be why the charging system is not working. On some charging systems, that bulb is crucial for the alternator to work.
Engine off, a fully charged battery should measure 12.5 volts with a voltmeter. Engine idling, and the voltmeter at the same battery should be showing about 13.5 volts. This tells you the charging system is working.

2008 camry battery drain excessive drains battery

Hi my name is Tom and I can help you.

Most battery drains are shorts in the electrical system. Also, you might have a light(such as a dome light or trunk light that is not turning off.

Electrical problems are the personal hell of mechanics because one wire touching the cars ground and you have a drain which will drive you crazy. If you have the time you can check all the wiring on the car, if not take it to a shop. They will spend hours finding it and never can charge you what it is worth.

My car just stop starting,i will jump it,by morning it is dead,i replaced battery and alltenatior, what could it be? check engine light isnt on

there is a drain in the system,
all you need is a test light
un hook the positive battery cable
connect the test light between the positive lead and the battery terminal
if there is a drain the light will lit
remove each fuse at a time ( put it back if the light does not go out )
which ever fuse that you remove and make the light goes out, that's the one that cause the drain.
check and fix that system

Battery drain on 04 Sedona

It may be expensive to have someone fix. Electrical gremlins can be a pain to find. If you could locate the issue then it might not cost as much to get fixed. Start by looking at all the wiring you can for any rubbing or bare wires. Something is grounding and draining the battery. I've seen a wiring harness rub a bracket on the back of an engine until it shorted, causing all sorts of issues on a civic.

Power drain on battery

Get a fuse tester, which looks like an icepick with a wire coming out the back. Clamp the wire to something metal to make a ground and touch the tops of the fuses which should have small metal prongs on the tops. If the handle of the tester lights up then the fuse is good and if it doesn't then the fuse is bad. Try this out and let me know.
