There are several things that can cause your blinkers to not function properly. This could be caused by a defective flasher unit, a malfunctioning turn signal switch, or a broken wire, just to name a few. Electrical system diagnostics must be performed to pinpoint the cause of the problem.

If the turn signal lights don't light up on the dash when you turn your turn signal light switch to the right or left, you most likely have a bad Multifunction switch, which is just the lever that you turn left or right to indicate the left or right turn signal.

If the turn signal light does light up on the dash, but doesn't blink like it should, you may have a bad flasher unit.

When after checking the bulbs, and the fuse .then change the relay.trouble is people will think of the switch first, only to change that.when you should change the relay first.it is cheaper to do so.

I have a 1990 sx corolla the car won't start the reds on the dash don't even appear but my headlights work and the blinkers the battery is fine and i just changed the altinator what else could

If the warning lights do not come on and the car will not start, I would guess the key switch has failed or a major fuse is blown.
I would check the fuses first, then for power at the key switch.

Both blinkers don't work but flashers do

There should be a flasher unit on the fuse box under the dash for the turn signals and another behind the dimmer switch for the hazards.
Sometimes one of the flashers is behind the fuse box in the glove compartment if equipped.
Don't be surprised if the flasher is not the problem. Most of the time the problem is the multi-function switch on the column.
There are stories online about using WD40 to take care of the switch problem.

I have a 1990 Ford Taurus and my blinkers don't

blinkers sounds like the flasher unit is not working. It's located under dash. Also check for burnt out bulbs.
Rear defrost, or rear defogger?: Your defogger for the rear window would run off a relay, probably located in the fuse panel of your car. Often, the connections at the rear window get broke or disconnected.
Front defrost: does your heater blower work?

Have you removed the bulbs and checked them and the sockets for corrosion? Also make sure they are locked into place properly. Another thing is to check the flasher relays under your das by the fuse box to make sure they are properly seated.

I bet you missed a fuse. Your tail lamps are protected by fuse #9 in the instrument panel fuse block. It is a 20 Amp fuse and is marked "PARK LPS".

on the brake lights, check to be sure the switch located at the top of the brake pedal isn't stuck, you can Jumper the switch to see if that works,
