Question about 2004 Saab 9-3

1 Answer

I get a knocking noise from the front when breaking a little hard or accelerating hard. The noise is intermittent, mechanic checked the suspension and said the coil springs were fine (which I received a recall notice from GM on).

Check the lower control arm bushings. Hard to diagnose, but good for intermittant noises.

I hear a bang when i take my foot off gas coming to atop and also hear a bang when i give it gas this happens like 75%of the time

problem most likely not in the diff but in the diff mounting and suspension points
a noise on acceleration or deceleration indicates that the diff housing is free to react to the load being applied and that is mounting bushes , broken mounting plates or other suspension problems
consider this to see if it fits
when you accelerate the reaction of the diff is to roll upwards as the wheels have traction but when under brakes ( deceleration ) the diff rolls forward
hence the bangs in both directions
suggest that you change mechanics and take it to a specialist shop that deals in your make of vehicle for a proper under body inspection of mounts , rubbers, pins and chassis mounting points
another issue her and that si the engine reacts the same way so check engine mounts and reaction rod bushes

I have a knocking noise in front , have checked suspension engine mounts tyres flushed out power steering fluid noise still there

Hi Erica:
Time to play automotive detective...........
Does it happen when"
- the vehicle is stopped and the engine is running?
- the vehicle is moving with the engine running?
- the vehicle is moving and the brakes are applied?
- the vehicle is accelerating under load (uphill)?
Is the noise constant
intermittent
only happens going over bumps

Cheers.

Jetta noise

Have an inspection done on the front end and check for loose steering ball joints an other suspension components. Have the wheel alignment checked and check the front wheel bearings for condition and adjustment.

Loud clunking noise from yoyager when on full lock

Loud clunking noise WHERE in the Voyager when WHAT is "on full lock"? It might help to be a little more descriptive.

Knowing Chrysler minivans the way I do, I would assume that you are chasing noises in the front steering and suspension. Those are notorious for all kinds of noise in the front suspension. You need to check the stabilizer links, the stabilizer frame bushings and the upper strut bearings - these are the most common "noise-makers".

If it is making the noise when you have the wheels turned hard to one side and accelerating, then it is most likely a bad CV joint.

Front end knocking from 97 sebring

Move it to 3rd instead of drive and see if you still have the noise. May be transmission related since you have replaced everything else.

I would check the sway bar linkages, they are usually the first to go, and they are only $40. Its an easy 'do it yourself' project, remove the old one with torches or a grinder (with a small cutting wheel). You can also use a vise grip and sockets but it takes longer.

You can't tell these are damaged until you remove the part. I change mine every 100 000km or so.
