Question about 2000 Renault 181

1 Answer

Card-key Hi, have a Renault Megane car, trip computer says replace car batteries, did this but message never went away it stayed on the trip computer. Had car serviced and asked them to check my key card, staff said my card was faulty even though it works perfectly well apart from message on trip computer asking me to change battery? Also staff said my spear card would go the same war as I have never used it, I was keeping it safe for emergency use, staff said eventually both cards will de-program. Is this information correct? Many thanks. Noel Ivers

    Hi,

I have the same problem. It looks to me that Renault wants to get money out of connecting the computer to the car and deleting all this messages.

    Regards
    Luis

It is possible for this to happen. once the cards are deprogramed they need to be replaced.

Renault Megane 2005..and my card is not working..the batteries are good cause it locks and unlocked normally..but when i put in the cards its says..card not recognized!!

I only saw question now. I've been through the same with my Renault Megane Hatch 2004. 1 card key unlocked but could not start the car; spare key said card not recognised. Renault said I needed new key cards as they don't last forever & they will need to be replaced from time to time. Ordered new key. They said would take 3 weeks to arrive but came in 2. Then needed to be encoded. Was very expensive

We can't start our 2002 renault megane with the key card is it a problem with card or card reader?

Hi
You should normally have two key cards, a simple test is necessary to come to the proper conclusion.

First of all insert one of the two key cards into the card reader examined what is written on the instrument panel if the message is card not detected
try the second key card, and if the second key card is, Detected then you have a problem with the first Key card.

With this small test you should come to the conclusion if there is a problem with the key card or the card reader.

This should answer your question, I hope I have been helpful.

Key card not working have replaced battery and still nothing, can get in the car with the emergency key but car wont start or even register the card

Unfortunately the battery is only for the central locking and has nothing to do with your immobiliser, when you place the card into the card reader I presume you get a message saying card not detected for a renault megane or scenic, card is most likely faulty and will need replacing, sometimes if you're lucky you may get the cart to be detected by slightly tapping the card on the floor.

the key has lost its code. open the doors manually and use the central locking button inside the car. hold it down and keep pressing your key fob. this should re code the key
