Question about 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser

1 Answer

2001 PT Cruiser with 111000 miles. I have a noise that sounds like crickets chirping when I accelerate; this noise continues until I reach 25-30 mph. When I step in the brake the noise goes away. I also have a small leak on the passenger side; about 6-8" to the left of the tire towards the middle of the engine. This substance does not aeem to have a color on my finger and is not really an oily feel. I put new rotors and pads on at 67000 miles. If anyone has any ideas; I would be so grateful. Thank you.

Probably engine coolant, check its level. If you are brave enough - check the taste of the fluid.. coolant has sweet taste.

My 2002 PT Cruiser frequently makes a single thump noise when accelerating from the stop position. The noise, which began at about 85,000 miles, comes from roughly under the driver's seat. My reliable

I would suspect the anti roll bar bushes but i would need to get it up a ramp and have a probe with a long bar ,ask a local mechanic to have a look as i dont think its serious although if you dont know what it is then it can be worrying ,another cause can be the lower track control arm bush the back one either way its not a expensive repair

Pt cruiser jerks when acclerating, hesitates when not accelerating, fine when idle

I am not saying this is the solution or this is the problem but the PT cruiser suffer from code P0344 Which is the cam position sensor which causes misfire, the solution is a reflash of the ECM.But before a reflash the Camshaft postion sensor needs to be verified for working condition and if possible duplicated.Once the Check Engine light does come on you automatically go to limp home mode, This is the drag that you experience, the purpose is to protect the catalytic,in case there was a true condition with intermittent cam postion sensor,You need the check engine light code, then you can go from there.

2003 PT Cruiser turbo. Has just 67k miles on it. Just began making a low pitched loud whistle sound on acceleration or load/uphill. Gets louder with greater acceleration/load, no decrease in power.

I took my car to Keller's Auto Repair in Gettysburg PA, He specializes in Chryslers. I have 04 Cruiser with 2.4 Turbo that had the same whistle noise, and check engine light on. He found code P0301. The noise was caused by the #1 Cylinder injector O ring. Check them out on facebook. They will help you.

Above 2500 rpms, loses power on acceleration

Did you check the plug gap on the new plugs? Did you also replace spark plug wires? The stock ones are ok, but typically replacing them with a decent aftermarket wire (along with the plugs) makes a world of difference.

Car overheats then engine dies going down hill coasting. When try to start, starter spins as if no gas or fire to the plugs. Can this be a sensor flipped by too much heat or lack of coolant ? If so, how do you reset the sensor ?
