Hi, in the standard MINI (not the S type) the batter is under the hood and it's a simple plastic case top to remove first. The battery on the MINI S is under the rear seat space. Lift up the rear seat and you'll find the battery right there. However, the battery in the 2002-2006 MINI COOPER is, indeed behind the seats under the floor by the rear hatch. You'll have to go in through the front door, fold the seats down and contort your body and damage your spine to lift the floor cover, loosen the battery terminals and have the battery out.

RFA1 BATTERY LOW

The message stands for Remote Function Actuation (RFA) battery low. This in more simple terms means that the battery in your remote for the door locks is getting low and should be replaced soon.

Just replace the battery in you keyfob remote.

Good luck.

When car sits a for a while it's hard to start and very low idle

my first ting to check would be battery, as since it is occurring when it sits for a while, then this would be the most likely source as the alternator charges the battery amd since the battery is low on charge, then this also causes the low idle

Batteries die after sitting for at least 12 hours main battery good, secondary a little low, alternator showing 12.5 voltz its a diesel. It has to sit for 12 hours or more. I know its a short, but does...

It could be the alternator but is most likely the low battery. Best to start with the simple things. to check if its the battery disconnect the low battery when you stop. Check the low battery then after 12 hr's check it again if it has lost power then that's the problem. If this does'nt sort it repeat the process with the main battery as although its good when you have checked it I can still loose power when sitting. If it is not a battery problem check the under bonnet light, boot light and glove compartment light dont stay on when closed.
