Is there two holes in the drum that are threaded, get two 8mm bolts with the same thread and turn the bolts into the brake drum with wrench/socket, should slide off, if no bolt holes then loosen the brake shoes (backing plate has a slot in the plate) a flat head screw driver works

If you loosen up the shoes and that also doesn't work, then you can use a torch around the hub and heat it up cherry red. When you get the drum red around the hub, the give it a hit with a hammer on the outside edge of the drum. It should pop right off.

Can't get the rear brake drum apart on a 1985

Make sure the e-brake is "off". Spray the wheel studs wit a penetrating oil. Use a big hammer and strike the drum at the top and then the bottom. Eventually it will move. If not, try a thin pry bar if there is something to pry against behind the drum. If not, strike the pry bar directly with the hammer on the left side and then the right side of the drum, alternately. Eventually you will be able to "walk it off." Take small steps as the brake shoes have little side play to allow drum side movement, hence the "walking it off" routine works best.

How do i remove rear drum on 1997 ford f 1-50

If the brake shoes have worn into the drum, you would need to turn the adjuster back to release the shoes.
If the drum is stuck to the axle, you would need to spray the axle with penetrating oil and use pry bars to pry the drum off.

I broke two tire bolts on the rear tire how do we take off the brake drum to change them i tried banging it wont come off

Tapping on the sides is the way. Make sure the hand brake is off. Adjust the brake shoes to loose so that they are not in contact with the drum then tap the outside of the drum while pulling out the opposite side. Do that along the whole circumference of the drum and you will see it coming off.

How can i get the drum off the escort? i got the bolts out.. and now the drum wont come off. ive hit it with a hammer an everything.

on the back of the drum there is a rubber plug pull out and use a brake adjust tool and turn it up or down until the brakes contract should come off if not the do this. you will have to heat it up around the whole drum and then pry it off . use to good screw drivers and slide them in to the back of the drum and dust shield and pry it off. put one at 9 and one at 3 (screw drivers) sometimes it can be difficult.

I have 93 cavalier rs four door, and trying to get rear drum off. i tried to find the self adjusting hole, but none to be found. the drum will simply not release. i have banged ,pried and sprayed rust...

These can be tough to get off at times and you are correct in that many vehicles no longer have the oval shaped hole to gain access to the adjuster star wheel. What happens is that as the shoes and drum wear against each other a lip on the outer edge of the drum is formed. Since the shoes have self-adjusted themselves towards the drum as they wear they are now slightly further out than this lip is which makes it very difficult to get the drum to slide off over the shoes. I'm assuming that the drum is loose on the hub and you just can't get it to slide off over the shoes, but if the drum is stuck solidly on the center of the hub and won't budge at all then penetrating oil and tapping on the drum around the wheel studs and center hub will usually get it to come loose. I use an air hammer with a flat/blunt bit to rattle around the center of the hub area on the drum to do this but a ball peen hammer usually works in a pinch.

I am having trouble taking off the rear brake drum on my 1993 2wd S10

Could possibly be rust buildup... hit the axle dead center to free it up while pulling towards you. look to see if there is a screw that could be attached to the drum itself.

I want to chang the rear brake ! so how do i get to the brake or what do i need to get the dum off !

Remove the rear wheel. Check the studs to see if it has any retaining rings on them. If they do, pry them off with a small screwdriver.
Now take a hammer and bang the drum to loosen it off the axel flange and pull the drum off.

Passenger side rear brake locked up.

It's probably the emergency brake cable that is stuck. Check that first. When I get a drum brake that is totally frozen up (like been sitting for 40 yrs) I often use 2 or 3 pry bars, WD40 and short handle sledge hammer to pry a little on both sides, liberally keep penetrating oil squirted on the shoes and tap on all sides. Eventually drum will come off, but sometimes it takes like maybe 1/2 hour. Shoes will have to be replaced, but they are probably shot anyway. The drums for the caravans are cheap, so I would not only get them, but the spring kit from the parts house as well.
