Question about 2000 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

2000 Ford Taurus 110, 560 miles (original engine, rebuilt tranny) - #1 Problem: A few times a week when i come to a stop, the engine oil light will blink rapidly. When i speed up, the engine oil light will turn off. It doesn't happen everytime i drive. #2 Problem: I get a chirping sound almost when i drive. The faster i drive, the faster the sound. I'm not sure if a belt loose or not. I had one replaced after the sound started but it didn't fix the noise.

Sounds like a cam chirping, cant remember if that was normal for that engine, mine did it randomly, oil light could be a bad pressure sensor, hopefully it isnt your bearings wearing out, good luck i hated this car

I took spark plugs out of 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L to place plug fowlers in. Spark plug will fit in fowlers, however; fowlers will not fit in engine. Placed plugs back in engine and now will not start.

Sounds like that car is the proverbial POS. Did you check for spark? - need a strong one with a car burning that much oil and the plugs getting fouled like that. Need to replace those rings!

2003 Ford Escape transmission leak. 175 K miles. Tranny rebuilt at 120 K miles. It appears to be leaking where the tranny bolts to the engine. I've checked the axels and transmission pan and all...

This is quite tricky, the oil leak can be only due to a failure of the OIl seal or that the bearings after being worn out can damage the oil sealing.
So it is best that the unit be taken out in the engine side to be probed.
Now since the leak is more when the engine runs it is better to take down the unit for an overhaul , confirm and then replace the seal / bearings.

2004 Ford Taurus: Just before leaving for vacation I had an oil change at a local lube stop. A few weeks ago after going for another oil change it was discovered that the wrong oil filter had been on...

I dont know why you would add oil if its full??? You need that checked out ASAP. I hope you have the old oil filter. a lawsuit may be in order. The incorrect filter may have damaged the engine.

Starts right up few minutes later the oil light comes on and the motor starts tapping and sounds like its gonna blow up.

possible old engine oil or wrong weight, the specs given in you manual do not account for wear the more miles you have the heavier the oil should be but it must be replace at the right time 3,000 to 5,000 to keep the oil flowing perfectly, the older the oil the harder it is for it to flow. change the oil and use lucas oil additive if this does not solve your problem it is possible that is time to rebuilt or replace.Dont forget the filter!

2003 ford taurus transmission problem

The tranny is probably on it's last leg. Changing fluid and filter on a tranny that's never had it done before can be worse on it than good.
