Question about 2004 Honda Accord

Open Question

I have 2004 model Honda Accord 2.2cdti and a fault P2004 intake manifold runner stuck, please can you tell me what i can do?? I've mixed liquid to clean system for diesel but still have this problem. Is there any better treatment please? or what can i do my self? Thanks Roderick

p2004 (Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open)You need to take a look at the IMRC actuators on the intake manifold. You can try using a screwdriver or other tool to move the actuators to see if one is stuck in the open position. Do not use your fingers to do this, because if one is open and decides to close it has a bit of force behind it and can injure you. If the IMRC is stuck open, it is usually due to deposits in the intake manifold. Repair involves removing the upper intake manifold and cleaning out any deposits in the IMRC plate area. I would try running some Techron Concentrate in 2 tanks of gas to see if it dissolves enough of the gunk on the plates to free up the stuck one. Certainly a lot cheaper than having to pull the intake manifold and cleaning the plates. Always run tier one gasoline like Shell or Chevron to reduce the buidup of deposits.

what engine? So the guy running the test could'nt point it out to you? You need to find a shop that qualified to repair the car. its a valve on the intake manifold that opens and closes to help th engine produce the most power at low and high rpm. they get stuck. sometimes you can clean them.

There is a heater core bypass pipe that runs from the block (under the manifold) to the bacl of theengine where you will see a flat rectangular "sheet metal" thing with a pipe coming out of it. The a rubber hose connects. You need to pull the top air plenums and intake to get to it. The p[ipe flange bolts to the block with silicone rtv as a sealant.

P2004 is intake manifold runner stuck open control bank 1. This code should be related to your EVAP system. Did you try resetting the ECM and then the light came back on? If so, did you look at the readiness status? After driving the car awhile different systems should have come out of default and one should have been listed "not complete". Which one was it?
Start by looking for pinched or broken vacuum lines, oil dip-stick not in place or oil fill-cap missing, maybe a missing or defective gas-cap. Anything further would take the use of special tools and a look at live data, to hopefully narrow this down. Good luck.

It is attached to the intake manifold, it is a valve that adjusts the runner length of the intake for optimal performance and fuel economy.

P2004 Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open (Bank 1) check for a cracked or broken vacuum hose on the intake manifold, be careful, the little nubs they attach to are normally plastic so use care when removing, the dealer will say new manifold, But check for hose fittings or a cracked hose first

the Runner Control Motor or Solenoid

Dont know problem, but i have fault code P2004


P2004 is intake manifold runner control stuck in the open position. The problem is common in several Ford models. Problem is either switch or actuators.The actuators can be tested using a tool to move them if they are styck and reading volts or in the control circuit.
