Question about 2008 Audi A3 S Line Hatchback
I want to change the colour coded wing mirrors on my A3 sportback to the more stylish matt silver. I've undone the obvious screws but still no joy. Can anyone help?
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Folks, Just found my problem ...... There's a flexible conduit (corrugated rubber sleeve) between the driver's door and the door arch which contains the wiring loom for the drivers door central locking/door speaker/electric windows/mirrors etc....discovered when I slipped off the sleeve that 4 cables in the wiring loom had broken due to repeated flexing when drivers door was opened/closed over the years (2001 Audi A4). Resoldered broken wires and insulated same....now working better than ever again ...ie dashboard back lighting seems brighter than it had been for some time? Also drivers door loudspeaker is back in action again (hadn't noticed that it had gone).
It's kinda difficult to reseat the rubber sleeving correctly after the repair job...will probably use some silicone sealant on the sleeve to ensure that there is no water ingress to wiring loom afterwards. I'm not too impressed with Audi design people after that, should have used cable that has a better flexibility rating (esp on drivers door!).

TO FIT A NEW MIRROR FIRST CONNECT THE WIRING PLUGS THEN ENSURE THE FRICTION PIN ON THE BACK OF MIRROR ENGAGES IN THE SLOT (OUTER EDGE OF MIRROR) PRESS FIRMLY AT THE CENTRE OF THE MIRROR TO ENGAGE THE RETAINING CLIP....IF YOU NEED TO REMOVE MIRROR INSERT A FLAT TOOL BEHIND THE LOWER EDGE AND LEVER IT FROM THE CLIPS.. HOPE I WAS OF SOME HELP TO YOU...

remove the plastic cover directly behind the mirror on the inside of the door, it just clips off normally with a flat blade or knife (Blunt knife if possible as a sharp one may cut the upholstery)
Once removed you should be able to see the retaining bolts that hold the mirror to the door.
If you have electric mirrors there should be a multi wire electrical plug you will have to disconnect before removing the mirror.
Hope this helps
