You could have a bad ground for the light that is dim.check to make sure it has a good ground by running a separate ground wire to the plug socket for the headlight.if it gets brighter then that is the problem.

Headlight systems inoperable 1995 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.9L V6 magnum

It may be a wiring issue. If the bulbs were dim that at least shows there was current getting to them. I'm in the UK and I'm not familiar with your vehicle ..

... but, somewhere around the rear brake/tail lights and/or front lights/indicators there should be some sort of earth wire that will attach to either the metal of the light unit, or closeby onto the bodywork.

It may be that you have a poor earth connection.

If you have a length of wire lying around, switch your lights on, place one end of the wire against the bulb body and the other end of the wire against a suitable earthing point. If the bulbs come on/become brighter it points towards a faulty earth. There may be only one earth for both rear lights and one earth for the front lights.

Don't forget to check your battery earth as well.

Why would running lamps quit, left headlight is very dim DRL light on dash flashing?

Have your alternator checked yet? Your alternator is what actually powers all of your devices and lights when the car is running. When it is failing it will cause lights to dim. Checking connections, fuses and your alternator should lead you to a good start! Good luck!

Left signal works right will not flash only rear light comes on checked bulb in front it good. headlights stay on all the time as well...

if it does not flash it is most likely the bulb may look good but can be bad , take a test light for the socket and see if you test light blinks , if the headlights stay on look in your owners manual should be a light sensor on it so you can set it to shut them off ,

Right headlight is dim , even when i turn the brights on, but the blinker works, left side headlight all works good.on a 2001 chevy malibu

You may have a loose or corroded headlight ground to the body, the ground wires are in most GM attached to the body near the headlight under the hood. Check all the grounds you can see on the inside of the fender, tighten and clean the with a wire brush, also check the headlight connector for problems like corrosion or not fully seated to the headlight bulb.

Some bulbs are better quality than others.Maybe the other bulb is a brighter bulb. You can also try and adjust the bulb to make sure it is aimed correctly as this may help. I think the bulb is correct part for the car but of different quality than other bulb.

It may sound silly, but check your brake light bulbs to see if they have been installed incorrectly. Brake light bulbs have two filaments, one for tail light, and a brighter one for brake lights. On some cars if the bulb is installed wrong, the brighter filament will stay on for tail lights. The only other thing I can think of is the wrong bulbs have been installed.

i think you hit the nail on the head with the ground problem,if you remove the bulb from the head light assembly, wiggle the black wire to see if the bulb gets brighter,if it does remove the bulb and clean and tighten the ground wire end.if it does not get brighter from a wiggle, connect the ground end of a test light to the positive post of the battery and probe the black wire, test light should light,if so replace the light socket.

Right headlight is brighter than the left headlight

Probably a bad ground or bad connection on the headlight that's dim. Try wiggling the wires on the bulb connection if that's not the problem/ Try and find where that headlight gets it's ground.
