The rear door lock actuator has failed in the door locking unit this is a common problem you can manually unlock the door to replace the latch if you didn't have the deadlocking on if you cant try pressing the locking button twice so when the car is locked the flashing red light is not blinking ie off on the drivers. Doing this usually causes the faulty lock to release the dead locking so you can pull the inside handle to unlock the door.
This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.
Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.
hello ive got a problem my golf 1.4 16v petrol year 2000when it reaches 2700 revs it cuts out and restarts like I basicly turned the ignition off and on again althought no other elictrical part of the car goes off stationary or driving it makes no differenceif im driveing along at 2700 revs just before it cuts out and drop a gear it lets me go past 2700 thus i can wind my way throught the gears past 3000 revs as soon as i slow down around 3000-2700 revs it cuts bk to doing the same on off on offthe radio-lights-windscreen wipers don't slow/shut off while this occurs and nor does anything elseoccasional when this random cutting out /restarting happens the oil light-pump stops working /light comes on and the rev counter stops working so i have to pull over and restart the car.its just passed a MOT with no faults and wonderfully for me the fault didn't happen that day ....ive changes plugs wires checked fuel pump-air pressure and i cant find anything pls could you give me some hints etc of what might be the issue
you have just found this out.it is a standard feature of all vw/audi/seat/skoda cars
unlock/hold key over, the windows will go down
lock/hold key over the windows will go up
then unlock the car with the remote, car reset.
sit in car with engine on,switch off engine(do not open any door)driver can open/close any window(you can even put your hand into window frame and it will rollback, all on its(not for fun)
if windows rollback after you have used button to close them you may have sticky runners/rubbers.
this is not in the hand book, tell all your friends.....only a german car.....
i had the same problem and i fixed it yesterday. you will have to strip the door down and remove the central locking unit. expect about a 3-4 hour job (at least). check this site out taligentx.com: Passat - Door Lock Mechanism Repair. its **** hot. mine had rotted inside, i tried to resolder it but it was to corroded i ended up soldering wires to the circuit board and splicing the into the loom on the door.(bit of a botch but it works great) you can get a second hand unit if you cant fix it for about £50/£60 or pay a garage about £300 to do it. believe me it was worth about 4hrs and gettin peed off to save the money. hope this helps. emptyed : )
