Question about 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Air Conditioning leaks under carpet filling passenger floor with water

Turns out that the case was cracked and leaks where you cannot see until you smell the mildew. We buy them in fleets and now have 3 that are incurring the same problem. Chev dealer has taken 3 weeks to get part so if you have same problem make them order lower housing first before leaving your vehicle as the parts are on national backorder

The AC condensate drain hole/tube is plugged, the drain is on the passenger side under the car close to the firewall.

It could still be a leaking windshield and running under the carpet.
Or it could be a door gasket or one of the roof drains is plugged up.
You may need a body shop to check it out.

What is leaking on the passenger side of 1997 range rover....

I have one of these, it did the same thing. I found the sun roof seal had gone hard ( due to the u.v from the sun ) and was not sealing properly.
Th drain hose from the cavity was blocked, the water ran down the door pillar and on to the fire wall and out behind the carpet.
Allso if the air conditioning condensation collector drain is blocked water will find its way the the carpet. the drain should empty to the ground.

Test heater core

Robert,
Using a cooling system pressure test tool to pressurize the entire cooling system, a heater core will leak into the HVAC [heater, ventilation and air conditioning] box [located under the dash board]. Once coolant leaks into this box, it will either drop onto the carpeting on the passenger side front floor OR drip out the condensate tube [where the A/C condensate water leaks out under the truck] The condensate tube is a rubber pipe located on the lower end of the passenger side firewall.
Leakage into the passenger carpet [most common place for it to leak] will appear as a wet carpet.
If heater core replacement is required, do yourself a favor. Buy and install a new A/C evaporator [located in the HVAC box with the heater core] at the same time. This is a big job to do. No sense replacing the heater core now, only to have the A/C evaporator fail next summer, forcing you to repeat all that labor [8 hours for a pro mechanic who knows what he is doing].

I have a Mazda B2500 (2000). Everytime it rains the drivers side floorboard gets soaked. There is no dripping or water running down the door. What could this be?

You could have a windshield that is leaking water. Often this water will trickle down from the bottom/inside of the glass and then down the firewall, under the carpet or floor mat, and to the floor. The way I usually hunt for these is to remove the floor mat or carpet then get a flashlight and lay down in the cab so you can see under the dash area while someone sprays water on the vehicle with a garden hose. Often the leak will show up as a trickle that you can then backtrack to it's source. Another spot to look for is at the cowl in front of the windshield where air for the heater and a/c is pulled into the passenger compartment. The water drain holes in this area can plug up and allow water to overflow into the passenger compartment. Good luck, hope this helps!

Its leaking under the dash on the passenger side when the ac is on, it feels like condensation from something under the dash but its alot and is soaking the floor of the front passenger floor

The water is probably coming from the air conditioner. Check the air-conditioning box or ductwork that surrounds the evaporator. There should be a drain hole in the bottom for the water to escape to the outside of the car. The drain hole may be plugged or the ductwork cracked or broken.

Also, this video can help as a reference guide...

Hope this help.

WATER ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR

You AC drain is blocked with foreign mater, leak is worse when AC is used, pull back the carpet and run water down the cowl opening with a garden hose, slow flow, and check to see if the hvac housings is not cracked, or sealed to firewall. GOOD LUCK. RDJRP

hi! run your a/c for halfhour and pull back your pass.front carpet and expose your lower evaporator case to see if water is leaking in that area.if so,it is possible your case drain line, which is located on the right side lower firewall in the engine compartment, with a hose mounted, pointed down.you must use compressed air to unclogg it.9 out 10 this your problem! try this first.if this is not your prob.check for a cracked case!

Floor on passenger side gets wet when running air conditioner

I have a 2006 Fusion with the same issue and I fixed it for less than $2. There is a drain tube that goes from the passenger floor board out through the firewall to allow water to drain under the vehicle. However, water can travel along the underside and seep back into the vehicle. I went to a hardware store and bought a few inches of 5/8" tubing. I simply slipped this onto the drain and the water now flows down the tube and safely away from the interior of the car. Been dry ever since.
