Key wont turn in ignition

Often this is caused by steering wheel interlock. Try turning wheel a little back and forth while trying to turn key to see if key now turns. Some cars require stepping ******* brake pedal and if the switch at the pedal has failed or become dislodged this can happen.

What would make the ignition switch stick an not turn to start the motor

Clyde, try moving steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key. This sound like it should have been a recall for faulty ignitions as when I googled it, there are a lot of cross fires with the same problem. Clyde, google search (2005 crossfire ignition switch)
There is just too much for me to write.

Why is my 88 bronco 2 turning over with no key in the ignition but won't start until I turn my key to the on position?

When you turn the ignition switch to run (on), it supplies power to the ignition and fuel systems. If your truck is cranking with no key, it sounds like your starter solenoid is sticking (replace).

My ignition switch on my pontiac aztek must be manually moved from the start poistion to on. Like the spring does not take it out of start.

You have a bad key cylinder. You need to replace the cylinder. You can find kits on line for your brand of car for a new key cylinder. It will come with instructions on how to assemble the cylinder for the old key

My 2001 PT Cruiser ignition switch will not turn. I have tried moving the steering wheel up and down, moving the steering wheel left to right while trying to turn the ignition on all to no avail. Help.

was the ignition switch getting hard to turn with the key for a while or did this just all of a sudden happen usually the problem has been going of for a while but people just ignore it until it gets to this point,it sounds like the tumblers in the ignition key switch have gone bad and the tumbler assembly needs to be replaced, the new tumbler assembly can keyed to the original key if the key is not worn out.this should be replaced with a new key if it is.

I have a 1978 Chevy k-10 and the ignition switch in the column wouldn't turn off. We bought a new ignition switch and the old one will not come out of the column. There is no retaining screw holding it in...

It sounds as though you are talking about key tumbler in column and if you are then stick key in and turn back to acc. position should come out. if it is ignition switch on top of column then turn key until dash lughts come on. and remoce switch.

This makes a little more sense. It appears the ignition swith is sticking. The true switch is on the steering column at its ba mounted on top. Ck for binding or sticking. A rod from the key actyates the switch. There is no elel
ctrics at the key location. Good luck

Key won't turn

The key problem could be a worn out key that is not disengaging the tumblers in the ignition switch or tumblers that are sticking(squirt a little wd40 in the ignition cylinder and move the key in and out a couple of times) inside the switch. Make sure the shifter is fully in park.

Key Stuck in ythe ingnition

There is a hole under the steering column right near the ignition switch, if the key gets stuck, stick a pen or something in the hole, you will feel the little lever move and you can remove the key.
