Question about 2007 Pontiac Montana

Open Question

2007 Pontiac Montana ABS, Traction and Stability lights are lighted up on the dashboard. Dealership mechanics claim that the EBC module lost communication with the ABS module. Dealership is recommending replacement of both modules at a cost of $2,000 but claims this is not a common problem with this vehicle. They cannot explain why this happened. Is this a consumer repair cost or should I be asking Pontiac to replace at no cost?

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

SOURCE: abs and traction control lights coming on

Its the abs sensor, if you encounter an ice patch or snow you won't even be able to stop because the pedal will will push back and make the rip grind noise. If you pull the ABS fuse out, you won't have ABS but you can stop and you won't have the grind noise and back pressure for now. Its safer to not have ABS when the sensor is faulty.

SOURCE: 2002 pontiac montana passanger pwr window

I beleive you need to change the Power Window Switches Module in the drivers side door panel, as these connections are interlinked within this module and it is usually the first part that fails. Especially that you already changed the switches & motor in the passenger door and it still does not work. Once you remove the dual switch module in the driver's side door, you will understand what I mean. Plus it is really easy to access. Good luck! I have the same model, Claude

How do i service traction system

You will need to diagnose the code first. The traction control and abs systems are tied together, usually there is a bad wire on the front end. The way the wires are routed for the abs system makes for cut or pinched wires to one of the front hubs causing an open circuit to one of the sensors for the abs system. This causes the traction control system to quit working. Diagnosing the trouble code should tell you where to look

What does it mean when 1999 Ford Explorer ABS warning light on dashboard comes on?

That means that the EBTCM has detected a problem within the system. The message indicates that a malfunction exists in the stability enhancement feature.

EBTCM (Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module) is an electronic control module that controls and operates the Anti-Lock brake system, Traction Control System and Stability system. If this module detects a problem, it "asks" the cluster to inform you by displaying a warning message.

You should have your car scanned for trouble codes with a scan tool, the Tech2 scan tool is preferred because other scan tools may not communicate with the EBTCM modules.

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

Abs and traction control light is on

There are several fairly serious issues that could lead to this symptom, but one simple one that I can think of. If one or more wheel speed sensors goes out it would lead to these problems. This is probably your cheapest and simplest fix, so check them first. Good luck!
