And this is removal manual:
Starter
Removal & Installation
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
3. Remove the starter terminal cover.
4. Remove the terminal nut and separate the battery starter cable from the starter motor.
5. Disconnect the solenoid (S) terminal connector, if equipped with a starter mounted solenoid.
? To disconnect the hard-shell connector from the solenoid (S) terminal, grasp the plastic shell and pull off; do not pull on the wire. Pull straight off to prevent damage to the connector and (S) terminal.

9. Install the battery starter cable and a terminal nut to the starter motor. Tighten the terminal nuts to 79 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
10. Connect the solenoid (S) terminal connector, if equipped with a starter mounted solenoid.
11. Install the starter solenoid safety cap. If equipped.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Connect the negative battery cable.
Start the engine several times to check starter motor

Why won't my 1997 ford expedition 5.4 triton start everything works except stereo turn key nothing engine don't turn over there's nothing

Check that the giant red wire on the starter is connected to the starter and the battery. Then check that the giant black wire on the starter goes to ground.

Actually, if there isn't even a click, check the starter relay. And it's fuse. It could also be the ignition switch.

I installed a new alternator, batter, and starter in my 1997 Ford Expedition and my truck wont start unless you hit the starter. All the wires are good so what else is there to check?

Sounds like you still have a bad starter. You can get a bad one from the parts store. Go back and have them test it. Or could be cylinoid.

I have a 97 ford expedition. When I turn the key...nothing...not even a click, is that the solenoid, or is there a starter relay that could be bad.

Do you get anything from the dash (lights, gauges..etc.) when you turn the key or is it completely dead? Check the battery connection and also the starter. Sometimes the battery is on its last leg and will provide enough for lights but won't turn it over.

I turn the key and get 1 click 97 expedition lights are bright and windows go up and down fast strong battery test

Could be a faulty starter, a dead cell in the battery, or the engine could be stuck. Did you have the battery tested out of the car ?
I would check for battery voltage at the starter cable and on the circuit to the key switch. Also check the ground cables. It takes 11 volts and 250 amps to crank most Ford starters

Won't start. Lights and accessories work fine. I think it's the starter, just need confirmation.

wots happening does the car just click when you turn the key if so make sure the battery isnt flat, as it might have enough power to operate the lights etc but not to start, if ok try jump starting the car in 2nd gear and if it is the statrer at fault the car will start with a jump. regards

High pitch noise when turn key to start / engine not turning over

Check your battery first. Cold weather does horrible things to car batteries... if it's more of a grinding sound I would say that your starter gear is bad. I believe they call it a ring gear? I had a similar problem with a kushman scooter that I use to deliver snowcones through the neighborhoods. It has teeth that need to engage and if those teeth have been grinded down it will have a hard time engaging....
