Have you tried locking and unlocking the drivers door using the key? Good chance if it has a security system that will re-set it.

OK, Take a look at the teeth on the flywheel. if it's doing that chances are the teeth are damaged and the starter isn't engaging anymore. Also take a good look at the old starter and make sure it matches up with the new one exactly. I'm pretty sure the starters for automatic trans and stickshift cars are different. Make sure someone didn't give you the wrong one.

i looked at THE FLYWHEEL LOOKS GOOD. I REPLACED THE STARTER AND SAME RESULT. MECHANIC THAT WAS LISTENING TO IT WHILE WE WERE TRYING TO PULL IT OFF SAID SOUNDS LIKE IT HAD JUMPED TIMING AND THATS WHY IT WONT TURN OVER HOW MUCH DOES SOMETHING LIKE THAT COST

OK, here's where I get to ask a question I should have asked in the beginning....What engine do you have???

  • Richard Scordino May 19, 2011

While I'm asking questions, when you turn the key is the starter and engine turning, or just the starter?? Your starter does not start the engine...It's only job is to turn it so it can start.

I drove my 2004 jeep wrangler all day friday, went to put it in the garage and it will not start.. the battery is fine, so is the starter and the cylinoid, made sure its in park and nothing, any ideas

Is it making any sound at all when you turn the key? Does the odometer show numbers? Is there otherwise any evidence othere being power to the Jeep? How corroded are your battery terminals? They may not be getting a good connection to the battery posts.

Starter problem on jeep

your flywheel is probally missing teeth. Take a socket and put on the crankshaft pulley and turn it about half a turn. Then try to start it,it should start. If it does or tries you will need another flywheel.

I went through water and stalled engine and have got new speark plugs, wires for them, new distributator cap and rotor. their is no water in oil or in the air intake. what could be probablem. it happened...

you may need to change your fuel filter sounds like you have water in the line. you can put some gas treatment or octane booster in the tank. but make sure that the new wires are in the right sequence for the firing order.

Your fuel pump is internally binding and causing the fuse to blow. Change the pump (and filter while you're back there.)
