Question about Kia Sedona

1 Answer

I have a 2004 kia sedona with about 88,000 miles. while at a light it stalled, after several attempts it restarted now has a bad motor knock and hesitates. took to local kia shop and was told it needs a carbon induction cleaning. my understandings about this service is that it only cleans the top of the motor and only the area where air and fuel travels, I dont mind having this done i just think it wont fix the problem. for a price tag of $320.00 just dont think its what needs to be done please help!

Any place you go to can do a throttle body and inductive cleaning, the most popular is called B&G product, and it is most likely they are right, you do need this service with a MAF cleaning that something you can do, just buy a can at any aftermarket auto shop and follow the directions, as for the inductive cleaning, its real simple to do they sell at aftermarket auto part store and whatever method they do its expensive, Here is what they will do they will decarbon the IAC(idle air control) then they will apply the aerosol spray to the throttle body and hopefull clean the MAF sensor, and thats it, is this something you can do yes it is.but here the thing you will set off a engine code and you will need to clear it,

I need a new head gasket. my kia sedona has a little over 75,000 miles on it. should I fix it or get rid of it? it is a 2004 I live in MA

if the rest of the vehicle is in good shape,, and you have knowledge of motors,, fix it, my Kia has 250k plus on it, so its well worth it, as long as the vehicle as a whole is in good shape

Check engine light on 2004 Sedona. Codes reat catalytic converter, exhaust, etc. Car has only 65,000 miles on. Just passed inspection less than 24 hrs prior to light coming on. Can this be anything...

I would suggest checking with dealer as most KIAs have a 100,000 mile warranty and catalytic converter as part of the emissions equipment should be covered.

2004 Kia Sedona with 150000 miles and need to replace the engine valve due to a knocking noise? How much does it cost?

If you are hearing a knocking noise, it is usually caused by a worn component in the lower end of the engine such as a failed rod bearing. In any case, whether the failure is in the lower end of the engine or the valvetrain; you are looking at considerable cost to repair either item. Given the age and mileage of the vehicle, you may want to think about trading or selling it as the wholesale value of this vehicle is just a little over 2k.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.

2004 SEDONA 63000 MILES ...WHEN DRIVING A RIPPLE

Replace the throttle position sensor then. Am pretty certain that's the problem.

You might have it checked for codes too. Sometimes codes are stored that do not cause a CEL, but give clues as to what is failing.

2004 Kia Sedona keeps stalling

Your problem sounds like you have a bad crankshaft position sensor. You will not get a trouble code (check engine light). This will cause the vehicle to suddenly stall. You cannot change the idle on this vehicle, or any FI modern vehicle contrary to a previous post. It is controlled by the engine management computer by way of an idle air control circuit on the throttle body.

2004 Kia Sedona trying to find the starter.

it is located on the drivers side underneath the van. you have to remove it from the underside of the car. you will need a 17 millimeter socket or wrench. Remove the ground cable before attempting to remove the starter.
