On your Swift, there's probably a fuel filter located just off the gas tank that's somewhat hard to spot. It also takes a bit of finesse to get a wrench in position to change the filter, and so this part is often not changed out until it's completely plugged. I would suggest changing this filter to see if this makes any difference. However, even a plugged filter normally allows a bit of gasoline to dribble through.

A second possibility is that your fuel pump isn't working properly. I don't have my reference materials in front of me, but I believe that this car is equipped with an electric pump, as opposed to a mechanical pump on the engine. If your fuel pump isn't working, you won't get fuel delivery through the lines to your engine. Also, the fuel pump may have failed from having to work extra-hard to compensate for a partially or wholly blocked fuel filter (see above).

I would trouble-shoot both these items; I suspect that one or both of them are contributing to your fuel problem. I have seen a number of Swifts / Metros sold "as-is" or sent to the junk yard for running poorly when their only problem is a clogged fuel filter.

Have K341s engine on a welder and crank case flooded with fuel. what should I look for?

It is likely that this engine has a gravity feed fuel system such as the lawn tractor in the photo. The problem is if the needle valve sticks open, float fails to push the needle into the seat fuel will flow until the tank empties. The fuel floods the engine and leaks by the valve stem and cylinder rings filling the crank case with fuel.

What a mess and always a concern when fuel leaks. The preventative is to make sure the fuel shut off valve is closed when engine is not being used. Usually running the engine with the shut off valve will empty the carburetor of gas a good procedure to prevent the carburetor from fouling.

You must drain the oil completly and replace before running the machine.

Likely with the engine vibration the needle will operate normally. Removing the bowl and checking for contamination is recommended.

Adding a new filter and confirming the fuel shut off is working is also recommended.

Not getting gass but fuel pump works & gas is clean, also it has sat inside for 12 years

Well if the pump works then follow the pump fuel lines to the engine, you will find the fuel filter then replace it and will also see petrol if any in it ,if not pump isent working ,if dirty replace it and blow air back from carby to filter to clean out pipe
,turn on ign fuel should come to filter and then with new filter in turn on fuel and see if any comes to carby if ok it should start and run.
Have a goodday,

Tractor starts , but wont run

check float level and operation. check that the idle circuit is clean and if there is a solenoid in the idle circuit ensure that it is working. If the fuel tank is above the carby check for filter / line blockage and that the tap is turning on. as from your description the is insufficient fuel getting to the carby and the bowl is running dry

How do you deal with an airlock in a mitsubishi galant gdi

Try pouring a little fuel onto the carby then start the engine. You may have to do this several times until the fuel enters the carby float bowl.

1979 FoMoCo 4 Barrel carb. Getting good fuel flow and pressure to the carb. Engine will start and run for a few seconds then run out of fuel. New fuel pump has been installed. Can blow through gas...

is the needle opeoning on the float in the carb? The fuel bowl should be about half full all the time. As fuel pressure flows into the needle & seat, it fills the fuel bowl until the float pushes the needle into the eat. Sometimes the rubber tipped needle can stick in the seat.

Engine turns over strongly giving the impression it wants to go but just wont fire up. 1981 2000cc cortina

I would check the distributor cap and rotor, if any evidence of even slight corrosion
exists, this would give the exact symptoms you describe. Replace cap and rotor
and (I generally do the wires and clean the plugs as well). If this is all well and still
the problem exists then check the timing on the engine as the timing gear may have
slipped. Cylinder 1 should be at the top of the stroke when you manually rotate
the engine until the timing marks on the crank and timing chain cover align.
You can check this with a pencil or a stick to see where the highest point is after
rotating the crank if you do not have a timing light. Cylinder one is the closest
to the front of the vehicle. Use a socket and extension bar to manually rotate the
engine (in the direction it normally operates only). If ok then I would
have the ignition module tested at the parts jobber. Hope this helps.

1987 jeep wrangle will not start or run

Uncouple the fuel line coming from the pump at the carburetor, place a clean can under the line, and have someone operate the starter--you should have fuel shoot from the line in spurts as the engine turns. If it does, then the entry port on the carburetor is plugged. Remove the float assembly and pull out the float needle valve. Hook the fuel line back to the carburetor and try the starter again, there should be fuel pumping into the float bowl. If not, check to see if there is a filter on the fuel inlet path that may be plugged. If no filter, remove the float needle seat to see if something is blocking the fuel passage. If all else fails, use compressed air to blow backwards through the needle seat (remove the fuel line again). Hope some of this helps!

Engine stalling due to too much fuel. Fuel in crankcase.

sounds like your float in the carb is stuck or the needle valve is bad. remove the bowl and push the float up to level. this should stop the fuel flow. be aware that only slight pressure should be needed.if it does not ck the needle valve. also mak sure you float is not damaged.
