My 2003 Chevy Malibu suddenly lost power climbing a hill. The engine light started flashing. I was able to drive it home at 30 mph.

Could either be the ignition system - ie, coil packs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or bad gas. Was it sputtering?

Blinking service engine light sometimes, goes away when slowing down, Chevy blazer 2003 110,000 mls on it up to date with maintence

Need to check for computer codes to be sure. A common problem is when accellerating up an incline, the fuel system can run too lean causing a temporay code to set and by easing off the gas pedal the light should stop after a minute or so
