Lifters could be dirty/ clogging. If your ready for an oil change. first put 1/2 quart of transmission fluid in the engine. It is high detergent and will clean out almost eveything. Run this for 15 to 20 minutes after the engine is warmed up. then replace the oil and filter. Down side. If the oil as never or rarely been changed it will clean out the bearing journals also. Causing rod or main bearing knock= engine rebuild or replace.

Noisy engine when cold

Sounds like low oil pressure, there should be a check ball valve in the pump it may be stuck in the open position or the spring that holds it may be weak. Try 20/50 Castrol GTX and a quart of slick 50 with a new oil filter. If it still makes noise when cold it will be time for an engine rebuild in the near future.
