Jump the starter. Power to the starter from the battery to the small post on the solenoid. If it cranks, check or just replace the wire that goes from the start poaition on the switch to the solenoid. this should take care of your problem. Let me know. Randy

Ford 1100 tractor diesel 5 port ignition switch with glow plug git a new one need help wiring it what cable go were Need a diagram if possible

Are the glow plugs single or dual wire if they are twin or dual wire one wire is positive and one is negative. I will base this on twin wire
I hope it is a negative earth system as I won't bother with positive earth instructions at this stage.
Get a multi-meter that has alligator clips on the cables attach black to a good ground then with the solenoid power wire removed on the starter (so it wont crank) get someone to hold the ignition switch in the on position, then test each pair of wires one will show voltage this is the positive one (mark each positive wire) now release the starter switch and change the multi-meter to ohms test the wires that did not show as active they should show good low resistance (hopefully 0) connection. now you can reinstall the glow plugs making sure positive on the glow plugs is paired with active positive wires that were marked then attach ground wires to the glow plugs.
Reattach the solenoid power wire and try starting it

I have a 1982 ford mallard motor home I put a new starter and cylinoid and when I turn it over it will start but the starter won't stop going until you unhook the battery. Any idea's why it's doing that?...

Could be wired wrong ... power going to the solenoid all of the time and not from the ignition start position on your switch. Remove the small lead on the solenoid and see if it stops. If it does check the ignition switch.

Starter solenoid failure

if the solenoid is clicking when key held in start position, indicates power not being transferred to starter, probably down to poor connection at rear of solenoid, some have contacts internally behind the solenoid slider

I have a 1974 custom deluxe truck and the ignition who come on new battery in car starter good and alternator is good

The reason to put in the push button for the starter is because the ignition switch had a problem in its start position. Now it may have failed completely. You will have to trace the wiring from the switch and the push buttonm maybe check some voltages. at the switch. Do the lights work off the battery? If no, look for a melted, bad fusible link near the battery. If the lights work (and other accessories), probably need a new ignition switch.
Good luck.

I have a 1992 Ford F150 Straight 6 motor, 2 wheels drive, an it won't start. I have already put in a new solenoid, & starter.

try jumping the small wire on starter solenoid to 12volts , make sure vehicle is not in gear , park or nuetral only, if engine turns over power is not coming from ignition switch. if it does not turn over you have a power or ground problem on secondary circuit

New starter will not disengage after starting. ive tried 2 new starters so far.

On the starter relay you want to disconnect the wire from the starter to the relay. Put on a testlight and ground it or use a Voltmeter. Operate your Keyswitch and see if the power stays on when you release your Keyswitch from the start position. If the power stays on its either your Keyswitch or your Relay that is bad.

Without removing the testlight or voltmeter, if the power is still on, remove the Tickler wire from the relay. If the power goes off with the tickler wire off then it is the Keyswitch that is stuck. Your Keyswitch inside is making contact with the Start side off the switch in the Run position

If your Relay stays on, without the Tickler wire connected the Relay is bad. It is fused across the contact posts.

If there are no power issues found, take the starter out and put some Brake silicon grease and liberally do the shaft. Then jump the starter out of the truck and work the lube into the Bendix.
I also had clients with tractors doing the same thing from their rebuilder. The Bendixes were shipped dry and never lubed.

I hope my information is what you needed.

2003 ford taurus how does you car sound when you try to start if your solenoid is bad just had starter replaced 1 year ago I don't know if it was a new starter or not but now car won't start battery is...

If you have a test light, you should check the small "tickler" wires on the starter relay. You do not know if the start signal is getting from the keyswitch to the solenoid. With the small wire detached you should be able to use a test light or 12volt meter on this wire. When you turn the keyswitch to start, the tickler wire should have power. If it does not, the ignition switch is probably bad.

If the tickler does have power, then clean the mounting surface of the solenoid and reconnect the wire and see if it works. If the car cranks you were losing the ground. If the car still does not crank put the test light on the cable going to the starter and ground the test light or gauge.

You will know there is power to the starter if the test light or gauge shows power from this connection. This means the solenoid is good and either the starter itself is shorted or has lost its grounding. Check all connections by the starter and try again.
If no luck the starter is bad.
