S430/102k, mi/ Wouldn't start. Told to put car in neutural and 'rock it' 'Rocked' car, put it in park and car started and 'check engine light lit'Prior to the no start, wife was putting middle range gas in car, also gas tank was @1/4. Once car started and home, put HEET(moisture absorbing liquid in tank, and filled car w/ premium gas. Following day car started,no 'Check Engine light'.. Following evening drove car to a concert, while driving in parking lot engine 'quit'. Put car in neutral so it could be pushed into parking slot. Once in parking slot, car put into park, and it started (check engine light on). On way home drove about 2 miles and again engine cut out.Put car in neutral, and tried to start it no luck, 'rocked car, put car in Park and it started. Drove about 12 mi home. Thought problem was bad gas, but seems otherwise. Starter cranks, car doesn't always start.Though *** might be fuel injectors, but they operate ...when car running. No On board testing yet, but spoke to a mechanic, and based on what i told him, he thought it might be a Crank Position Sensor, and Mercedes has had problems with them.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

CPS sounds abut right but to be sure you need to get the code read. The Check engine light sets a code in the on board computer and it can give a good indication as what is wrong.
AutoZone will read the error for free

Why does it not start in park, have to put in neutural

Simple the park start switch isn't functioning. If I remember correctly that is located in the center shifter console. Try pressing the shifter further toward the park setting. If it works now you may wish to adjust the shifter cable in the console. Otherwise take an allen wrench and loosen the retainer screw on the shifter and pull it off. Now remove the shroud to the console. With the console cover off you may be able to see the problem, but if everything stilll looks perfect and it still doesn't work replace the switch.

91 camary wont start

did you try jumping the solenoid at the starter to see if it turns?.
could be the neutral safety switch has failed or the ignition switch is bad.
1991 camrys did not come with engine immobilizers unless you have an after market alarm.

My 2002 tbird won't shift out of park I played with the shifter and rocked the car and got it out a couple of times

The first thing to do is check the brake lights, if they don't work the shifter lock will not release the shifter from park. The common problem on this model is the connector at the brake light switch is defective due to broken wires inside the plastic outer insulator.

2003 buick century will not always have power, no lights, radio etc.

It could be the battery cables because they can build up acid inside the wire causing problems. The next time it does this take a hammer and tap on the center of the starter housing it could be the bendix bad in the starter.

I have a 1991 Buick Park Ave, my car will start but when I put in drive, reverse or neutral I can feel the transmission shift but it will not take off. Several times I put the car in neutral, rocked it...

I would first check to see if you have the proper transmission level of fluid. From your discription, it seems that the fluid is low. If it is full, you have some more major issues. Hope this helps you, Rick

2003 s-type jaguar

I, as well as a guy I work with both drive s-types. He had this problem with his.

The problem is with a cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission. There is a bracket which holds the cable in place. This bracket is prone to coming loose and when that happens, your s-type won't shift out of neutral. Simply resecure the bracket and cable. Be sure to use loctite on the bracket screws so it won't happen again.
