SOURCE: on a 2006 chevy impala it tells you to tighten the gas cap

There is no sensor for a loose gas cap. What is happening is that the evaporative emission system is sensing a "Large Leak". Usually code p0455. The computer sees this as the most probable cause is a loose gas cap depending on several factors it looks at. You would need to clear the code(s) and see if that was the problem. If the light comes back on, then you have a problem in the system that will not let it seal. Possible solenoid problem, leaking hose / line, etc.

SOURCE: engine light stays o n my 2006 impala

you may have to reset the engine light. These cars are all computerized. Call the dealership and tell them that you had to replace the gas cap as it was faulty and caused your check engine light to come on. Ask them if they can reset the "computer" or if they can tell you how to do it (if that is possible).

Don't know if that will work, but my dad has been in the car business for over 35 years - I tend to listen to most the things he says......

If I'm not mistaken if no other action is taken to turn the light off, there has to be so many start cycles before that history will clear. You could disconnect the battery for a minute or so and that would clear the history.Of course if the problem is still current the light will remain on.

SOURCE: 2006 caravan odomiter says gas cap

On the gas cap itself theres a rubber o-ring.If thats quashed in any way you'll need to replace it.Sometimes takink the o-ring off and putting it back on fixes the problem.Its a very common problem ans is not that expensive to fix..The reason the code keeps coming back is because its a pressurize system and if theres a leak in the system it will throw the light in the dash..

SOURCE: i get a po455 code on my 2004 grand prix

I had a check engine light on for my gas cap. I fueled up and sometimes it would say "check gas cap" So i just plugged it in under the steering wheel and cleared the check engine light from my dash board. So far so good.

How do I clear the code PO455 after the repair?

You would need a scanner or code reader to erase the code.
Keep in mind code 455 is for a large leak so it could be something other than the gas cap.

I have 2006 chevy equinox code po455 I change the fuel cap and the purge evap valve but my code comes back what else could it be?

As you know one of the problems can be the Fuel Cap. I make this suggestion. If you changed your Fuel Cap before the Purge Valve double check that the cap used was an OEM (Original) Chevy Part for that specific vehicle, not just any cap from another Chevy.

Ford escape check engine code po455

First thing is to have the gas cap tested, or just replace it.if cap is good the next possible couse would be the evaperative canister located near or around the gas tank. Most likely the gas cap though.

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

* A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
* A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
* Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system
P0441 is Evap Emission Incorrect Purge Flow;

Po455 trouble code

It is a leak in the fuel evap system. This can be caused by a loose gas cap. If the cap is not loose then there is a leak in the system. That model Impala is known for the return solenoid going bad. It is located by the gas filler. They run about $40. I have included a link from a forum that may help you if you are mechanically inclined.

Code po455 engine light, replaced gas cap, replaced missing bolt on cap that houses air filter. not registering a o2 bank. whats with this pcv valve or ftp control module. is this what i need to have...

it sounds like you have a problem with the evap system which has to do with emissions for the fuel vapour system so raw fuel vapours won`t vent to the atmosphere and instead is drawn into and burnt by the motor.there is hoses,control valves,vent valves,canister,purge valves,gas cap, any one of these could be the problem.you will have to have the system tested at a shop to find the cause of the problem.

My 2004 chevy impala has a engine code of PO455 and i changed the gas cap but i keep getting the code back. any thing else i should check?

Sometimes the recirc line fitting can be cracked or worked loose and allow the same pressure loss. On the Impala I am not exactly sure how to get to them.

3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4 . Vacuum leak at engine po121 code po121 means Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem . it is usually indicative of a faulty throttle position sensor or faulty wiring harness in the engine bay.
