My car wont start, i can put gas in the carb, and then it will start, but after the gas runs out it cutts off.

Have you checked to see if gas is going to the carburetor when trying to start. If no gas is going into the carb then the problem could be clogged gas filter or it needs a new fuel pump. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.

I have a "67 Mustang with a straight six manual 3 speed. the gas gauge is broken. I ran out of gas. i put gas in and got it to start, but there was gas boiling out of the carb running all over the...

The reason for this is that some how some debris from the fuel tank has made it past the filter, usually from running out of fuel or fuel the car low a lot. The debris has got stuck in the floats needle seat and is allowing the carburetors bowl to over fill. This means that you may have to remove the carburetor and clean the needle and seat.
But before doing this a old trick is to use a plastic handled screw driver, and look for where the fuel line enters the carburetor. Then with a Gentle tapping motion tap that end of the carburetor 3 or 4 times and then try to start and see if this is still over flowing. If this continues to over flow you will have to remove the carburetor and clean it. I would recommend that you just rebuild the carb if you have to remove it. I also suggest that you replace the fuel filter.

1987 jeep wrangle will not start or run

Uncouple the fuel line coming from the pump at the carburetor, place a clean can under the line, and have someone operate the starter--you should have fuel shoot from the line in spurts as the engine turns. If it does, then the entry port on the carburetor is plugged. Remove the float assembly and pull out the float needle valve. Hook the fuel line back to the carburetor and try the starter again, there should be fuel pumping into the float bowl. If not, check to see if there is a filter on the fuel inlet path that may be plugged. If no filter, remove the float needle seat to see if something is blocking the fuel passage. If all else fails, use compressed air to blow backwards through the needle seat (remove the fuel line again). Hope some of this helps!

hello, usually when gas sets in carb for a long time it turns into a varnish, you will have to take carb apart and clean all jets out, even the fuel pump may be clogged up, you will probably have to rebuild carb, unless you have access to air line to blow any and all jets, pretty much all passage ways, power jets, in other words you have a carb problem, you may need a new one, unless you have a strong solvent, that will break away any varnish or gum up.

Engine will crank but will not turn over

Do this, take the top off the carb, being careful not to damage the gasket. Then take some carb cleaner and clean out the bowl and floats. Remove the needle valve and clean it out. Put it all back together and filling the bowl with carb cleaner. Start it with the starting fluid. Once you run the carb cleaner through it, it should start to run on it's own. Whatever you do don't shut it off for about 20-30 min unless you have to.

first thing to check is your fuel to the carb. you may have a bad fuel pump. remove the fuel line on the carb and put it in a cup or bowl. crank the vehicle for a little wyle and see if gas comes out. if not it's likely the fuel pump or the fuel filter is very clogged. if fuel does come out then you may need to clean your carb. good luck!
