Rotor is rusted on, I cant get it off. Am I missing something, is there something I need to remove first, or is it really a rust problem?

Just a lot of rust, first time I did it myself I found that a lot of banging on it will help, follow the same pattern when knocking with a hammer as you would when re-installing a wheel. Also if you have a breaker bar use it as a leverage and it will come off and WD40 does wonders.

I cant get the rear rotors to come off my 2000 lincoln ls

Only rust holding the rotors on-- from neglect

You have to remove the rotors once a year &
remove ALL rust from the wheel hub face, both sides
of the rotor hat & use anti-seize on those surfaces

Brand new vehicles come off the assy line bone dry &
rust on while on the rail cars or car carriers & have to come
apart as well

Dealers do nothing at all, as far a delivery prep
You get the new vehicle as it came off the car carrier

Hit the rotor with a 2x4,4x4 etc (wood)

If your throwing away the rear rotors & they rust so bad on
an L/S, you may as well, verse turning them, then use a dead
blow hammer or a steel mallet on the rotor face

I have replaced the rotors and pads. Really didn't start to pulste until I did the brakes.

Take it all apart and start over. You obviously didn't do what was required.
Did you remove all rust from rotor mounting hub face?
Install new rotor or remove all rust from both hub and wheel faces and machine rotor.?
Remove all rust from caliper slides and pad sliding abutments and use correct lubricant, in proper spots.
Install the very best quality, vehicle specific pads (Rebestos,Wagner, etc)
Flush and bleed system coorectly.
Are the calipers old and rusted inside, and piston not retracting?

Changing the front wheel bearings for a 2004 Suzuki Aerio SX, 2wd

Look on the face of the rotor. Not the part the pads contact. Between the lug nuts. Many rotors have 2 phillips head screws holding them in place. If there are no screws then it is probably rusted in place and will need to be smacked with a hammer until it pops off. If you are replacing the rotor then don't be shy beat the hell out of it. It is not uncommon at all to have to shatter the rotor to get it to come off if it is really rusted in there good. I have seen it take a professional mechanic with a 3lb. sledge hammer near an hour or more to get 1 rotor off when the rust is really bad.

How to remove rear brake rotors on a 2004 Santa Fe

THE REAR BRAKE ROTOR IS A LOOSE ROTOR AND SHOULD COME OFF EASILY. IF NOT, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE ROTOR IS HELD BY RUST ONTO THE HUB OR THE BRAKE SHOES IS STILL EMBEDDED INTO THE ROTOR. REMOVE THE HANDBRAKE CABLE TO ENSURE THAT THE BRAKESHOES COLLAPSE AND TRY TO LOSEN IT AGAIN. IF SEASED ONTO THE HUB BY RUST, KNOCK THE ROTOR WITH A COPPER HAMMER TO BRAKE THE RUST WITH A RUST REMOVER.

01 grand marquis rear rotor removal, After brake pad removal, and teh two factory "clips" on 2 of the lugs, what else holds them on? Just rust, or am I missing something?

Just rust. Spray with a rust penatrant, let sit for a few minutes, get big hammer and smack the rotor around the hat, not the braking surface. If you are replacing, you can smack the braking surface from the back side also.

89 Jeep Comanche needs front wheel bearings. Removed wheel, caliper, but cant remove rotor. Am I missing something or is the rust still holding on? It looks like it has teeth around spindle. Do I need to...

4x4, correct? Put the nut back on the axle and run it flush with the end, then give it a smack with a hammer to get the axle splines free.
The rotor itself is separate from the hub ...spray with wd40 or other solvent and squirt some where the lugs come through . Put a 2x4 on it and give it a smack with the same hammer. If necessary, alternate at opposite sides. it should break free.

Rotors

take off the one nut/locator pin, then smack the rotor hub with a hammer, it will come off. It's just a bit rusted to the hub. Make sure you clean the rust off the hub before re-installing the rotor.
