How do I replace rear strut and spring

Replace it as a unit. Strut, spring, strut mount all in one. It's called a quick strut. Raise car by the body not the wheel. Remove brake line (1 bolt) from strut lower. Remove 2 large bolts holding lower strut end. In the trunk 3 smaller bolts hold the strut mount (upper end) in place. DO NOT remove the single large nut at the top of the strut assembly. Wiggle the strut assembly out. Slide the new strut assembly in bolt it back in. Put wheel back on. Done.

I am replacing the rear struts on my 2006 ford taurus & I am wondering where or how is the best way to access the top strut mount assembly through the trunk or the rear seat of the ...

Push seat bottom rearward while lifting up. Fold seat back down and remove 13mm bolts. Remove push pins on rear speaker panel and lift out of the way. You have to be concern mostly of the bolts on the bottom of the struts, they tend to get rusted and might break off if you are not careful. Also remove the bottom stabilizer link bolts instead of trying to reach the top ones. These cars seem to be rust buckets, so use patience and heat if needed.

My wifes taurus right rear strut is leaking fluid also sway bar mounting rod had a bolt snap off how much do you thinks it would cost to repair.thankyou.

Labor rates vary by location and shop, so it's hard to give an exact estimate. I will say that (if they are more than two years old) you should replace both rear struts, and if the front struts are more than about four years old, you most likely should replace them too.
Parts cost for the struts are about $100-$200 each depending on model and such. labor should be about the same amount. So you are looking at $400-$800 for both rear struts or $800-1600 for all four.
Assuming the bolt is not hard to reach to drill out, it should not be more than $50 or so. If it is hard to reach, it could be more.

How do you replace the rear strut in a 2000 ford taurus?

Inside the trunk, near the rear deck or rear windshield there is a large round cap made of plastic, this can be popped off to get acsess to the top mounting bolt. The rest is self explanetory. Thanks, Dana.

Need help

If it's the ones behind the seat, you can access them through the trunk. Open the trunk and reach up under where the trunk hinges from and you will find the speakers.

97 Taras sedan SE style rear stut top bolt and nut location.

The top nuts are located from inside of the trunk. If you look behind the material that covers the wheel wells you should find the nuts near the top of the wheel wells.
