SOURCE: need location of shift timing

Hi

The solenoid is inside the transmission. The shift solenoid is located in the passengers rear corner of the trans-it's the one closest to the passenger side-the 1-2 solenoid in the one that is more to the right, about the middle of the valve body.

You need to pull the pan down to get to the connector. Do not force the pan in or what that breaks the solenoids. The solenoid is held in with a spring clip that just pulls down-1-2 will have spring pressure behind it from a shift valve.
There are couple of solenoids usually they can just be ohm checked to specs and figured out pretty easy. If you are not sure, probably easier and cheaper in the long run just to have a trained tech check it out and diagnosis it for you.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

My 97 chevy blazer won't shift past 3rd gear

Drop the pan, odds are the shift solenoid is out, its located at the front of the trans on the driver side. I'm sure your check engine light is on that will comment about the timing/shift solenoid being bad. I had the same problem with mine. The solenoid had plastic coming out of the inside. To remove it you'll find a small C clip holding it in, just take a small screw driver and pull the clip out. The part cost me like $36 from my local dealership. And its a longer solenoid. I believe its the 3-2 downshift solenoid. I do have the part number if you need it.

I have a 97 Chevy Blazer w/ 181,000 miles. When

if the key is getting stuck its the Brake Shift Interlock Solenoid its just under the ignition switch you have a short in it you can unplug it or replace it what its doing is over heating the solenoid and at times it can drain your battry.and for the trans acting up you could have a short to one of your solenoids or it could be the trans filter.

On my 2000 chevy S10 blazer, when I push the 4HI button, the 4HI and 4LO buttons flash a yellow light and it won't shift to 4WD, stays in 2HI and the light in the 2HI button is on yellow......I hear...

vacuum leak or vacuum locker solenoid problem. a great way to check for both is to remove both vacuum lines from the solenoid (located on firewall above destributor), and put a connector between them, push the button on the dash and see if it locks in.
