Question about 1998 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan Sport and i have a small oil leak. The oil light comes on and off but the othe day we were driving up mountains and all of the sudden the service engine light came on as we were driving and the steering wheel slightly stiffened as i pulled over and i noticed a little puddle of oil. We drove back home and i havent noticed nuch oil from it since and the service engine light is not on anymore. Is it ok to continue driving this vehicle? I need to make a 5 hour trip up to the mountains and im concerned of being stranded. Thanks in advance!

I have a dodge caravan 1998 3Lv6 every time the van warms up the oil light comes on. Now when I go a speed of 60 the light comes on and stays on until i give it gas. Would this be the oil sensor? And if so...

The oil pressure switch is located on the engine block, just above and towards the drivers side of the oil filter. You should take this to a shop and have them check the oil pressure just to be safe.

I have a 2000 dodge caravan sport awd and while i was driving home the engine light came on and stayed on what does this mean?

Any of a dozen things ... from a leaking fuel filler cap to low oil. You should check all the normal things a driver should check before you drive again - oil, coolant, air pressure, fuel cap (tight) washer fluid. If you find nothing wrong, you should have your mechanic have a look.

Thanks for your visit today.

I've 1998 Dodge Caravan 3.3L SE. The oil has been slowly leaking since last few years. The cost to replace the gasket is a lot 'cause he needs to remove the engine and so on. Is it worth doing it? I am not...

if the oil is leaking onto the exhuast then yes there is always a fire danger, but the oil lea must be a very big one, more than just a few drops on the ground every nigh.

1998 dodge caravan stalls with oil light on

I would stop driving it if I were you. Sounds to me like it might be the pump or a line that is clogged. New oil can break loose deposits in your motor and will end up in a oil pump pickup line, filter, or pump. And for your safety, here is a complete list of recalls on your vehicle. If your vehicle is affected by one or more of these recalls, then you may qualify for a free repair! http://www.internetautoguide.com/auto-recalls/09-int/1998/dodge/caravan/index.html
Have a nice day. And have someone check your van.

I am having oil problems.

it is very possible that it is the oil pump but before you change it check out the oil sending unit normally it is somewhere around the oil filter and to answer your question the oil pump is in the oil pan
