Right front lower contro arm replacement. 1990 Chevy Lumia Euro

Beat on the spindle that holds lower control to the lower spindle while prying the lower control arm down this will loosen the lower ball joint spindle. If there is a lock bolt take it out. Grind the rivets off in the lower ball joint. The new one comes with bolts to replace it (not rivets)

We had the lower ball joint replaced at a shop about a month ago. last thursday the bolt came out where it connects to the frame. the shop had it toweed to the shop but they are now saying that the spindle...

It may be true, but should have been seen when the ball joint was replaced. The spindle has to be pulled apart in order to replace the ball joint. so I would suspect the shop either knew there was something wrong with it and was looking to book more work down the road, damage it themselves and did not want to pick up the tab for replacing it at their expense or did not care enough to recognize the issue. Either way, this should be their responsibility. I am not sure what state you reside in, but most have a Bureau of Automotive Repairs in order to file complaints and resolve issues of this nature. You have options, but most importantly you need the vehicle fixed and done correctly. If you would like more information, let me know, but I would not stand back and allow these people to charge me for something that should have been taken care of initially.

The left front wheel bearing on my 1995 3000 gt needs to be changed. how do i changed them, i was told i wuold need an extractor

If the bearing is pressed in you will have to take it to a shop to get them in, but you can remove the spindle and save yourself some money. Remove the tire, remove the bolts from the strut, tierod, cv shaft, and ball joint. To remove the ball joint and tierod from the spindle you will need a fairly large hammer. (Small 3lb Sledge works great). Hit the spindle were the tierod and ball joint go into it. Do not hit the threads of the two. Usually a couple of good hits will pop the tierod and ball joint out. Again make sure you hit the spindle, I can not stress this enough. When they are loose take it to a shop and have the bearings replaced. Buy your own as this will save you money also. Each side on the floor will take about two hours. Have fun

I have a 2002 hyundai sonata that makes a clicking noise when you turn the wheel, I was told the front axles might need changing and if so what procedures need to be taken to do this repair?

Determine which axle is bad. Usually pretty obvious, the one that the rubber boot is ripped open. Remove wheel, outer tie rod end from spindle, lower ball joint from spindle, pry down with long heavy bar on lower control arm to disengage ball joint stud, Large nut from end of axle. Pull spindle away from car to get axle out of spindle. Carefully pry between axle and transmission to disengage axle.

Replace upper ball joint 2003 silverado 1500

The ball joints on both 2wd and 4wd upper are pressed in you need to remove snap ring and using a hammer pop out the old one out this is after you seperate the upper arm from the spindle. To install the new ball joint you should use a ball joint press that you can rent at most autoparts shops

How to change ball joints on 1997 2500 4x4 dodge diesel

Not hard, you'll need a special socket to get the axle nut off and getting the bearing out of the spindle is usually a real chore. Since it sounds like the spindle is already out, you might be able to do it in a press.

To get the ball joints out of the spindle, drive them out with a hammer. If you need to get the ball joint out of the axle, strike the axle next to where the ball joint taper is with a large hammer. That will usually distort the axle material enough (for a split second) to let the tappered section loose.

Have a 2001 Buick LeSabre. Vibration turning left . Think it may be CV Joint. How do I pull the axle out to check CV Joint?

Rasie vehicle, remove tire, axle nut and caliper. remove tie rod end from spindle, remove lower ball joint nut and seperate from spindle and pull spindle from axle, with pry bar pop axle out of trans housing. it is easyer to replace cvc axle than to replace or repair cvc joint.
