Question about 1992 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

Driving my 92 Cadillac deville today Coming home it seemed the gas was stuck, after getting into the drive way I let set for a sec and it was not ideling intact it almost seemed to be slowly increasing rpm I then turned the car off and heard a pop like it was kinda In gear and then it settled by rolling back a tad . Waited a few minutes and then with the car in park I started it and it pulled forward a lil and was still reved up, so I shut it off again and again a pop followed with the car rolling back a tad I did look at the throttle cables and it didn't appear to me that they where stuck. Any ideas what this could be?

Pop- is a backfire/miss fire - try some fuel injector cleaner first- if no-go then a complete turn up - plugs, wires, air and fuel filter.

Well I guess my pop and urs differs when I say it I mean it sounds just like if u was pushing on the gas and then threw it in drive from park.. Like it has a reluctance to shift then pop it does

Anyway after looking it over again I found a hose that was really loose and didn't appear to be on correctly this hose originated from the base of the throttle body and then went onto something else, I pushed the hose back on and every thing seems fine now. Really not sure if running fine now because it has been sitting for about 40 min or if it was that hose. Just to see I had the wife start the car and let idle while I disconnected it. I didn't notice much of a difference I'm idle then so I had her give it gas a few times with the hose disconnected and it seemed to me as if the car was a tad sluggish getting back to idle but I'm no mechanic so I just put the hose back on and decided to look at it again should it do this again. Will check back if this is not the problem

So far that does seem to have fixed it
I will post again should the problem reoccur and I find out that hose is not what is actually the problem

Sounds like you blew fuse. Fix fuse and borrow a car starting switch they use at car repair shops. As long as you can turn tumbler to on ,you can start using the starting switch from repair shop..There should be a way to run a start button to start car and your off/on key should be OK
