Question about 2006 Nissan Versa

2 Answers

Good day, I am having an issue with ants in my car. I keep my car very clean (always been complimented on that), hardly eat anything in it, but ants keep on eating on some of the parts especially the circuits. my car wasn't starting on Monday, May 16, 2011, when the mechanic check, they found that ants was eating out a section of one of the circuit board (can't remember which one now). I'm not sure what to do at this point, need your advice as to any product etc that can be of assistance. Thanks in advanced for your reply, Have a great day, Regards

Ants??? Never seen that before!!! I'd try placing ant poison traps near the tires when you are parked. You really can't use any kinds of sprays etc as they could short out electronics. Perhaps spraying the tires with insect repellent would work??? I'm assuming the tires are the point of entry. If they are dropping down from trees, perhaps wrapping the nearby tree trunks with sticky stuff will help?

SOURCE: EVAP Purge control circuit code

You need a new air flow meter and air filter. Your car ir running lean, resulting in bogging issue. I am sure, that you have been using a aftermarket air filter, which is the cause of the air flow meter failure. Is the check engine light on?? if so scan it and you will most likely come up woth "fuel system lean P0171 code" Aftermarket filters are the root cause of air flow meter failure in a sentra. Let me know what you find.

IAC valve has gone bad. Its located on the throttle body and is what controlls/keeps the vehicle running at idle.

Sounds like your solinoid is bad on your startermotor. Replace with known good starter. If you want to check it out then pull the startermotor take it to your local auto parts store and they can verify it.

this is known as a "cold start" problem. common possibilities include a restricted fuel filter, clogged or dirty injectors, or even a problem with the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) or oxygen (O2) sensor.

Rough idle but car runs fine

If its a simple rough idle consider a few things given you have a Subaru. Your basic spark plugs and even coils at this point with mileage. Goods foundation for well taken care of high mileage cars. The engine has proven its self, just keep taking care of it.

Another thing to check if you do this and its still acting up is Subaru has issues with coolant getting corrosive and "eating" away at the head gaskets. If this is an issue you will have noticed a bit of coolant being lost. Check the spark plugs for coolant contamination Via google images or something. They get very clean because in a sense an internal leak does a kind of steam cleaning in a very distinct way.

Next would be check for an external leak which should not cause rough idle, but low coolant and over heating is easy with your engine design. Air pockets are too easy to get on your design. Do what is needed to keep coolant sealed and air pocket free.

Rough idle should also check vacuum hoses for cracks with high mileage. Rubber cracks and gets weak over this amount of time exposed to high heat of an engine. It just happens, its a rubber product. Silicone hoses are the best if you can get a hold of them. Pricey, but well worth it if you plan on keeping this or any car you plan on keeping to go this long.

Anything else would need more testing that would require different tools and diagnostic evidence to go further.

Good Luck

I have an 02 saturn sl1 1.9, it stalled out on my wife. It had multiple issues all kind of related to a faulty valve cover gasket. The egr was bad,pcv valve bad, ignition control module was bad due to oil...

The simplest thing that comes to mind is fuel and air filters, perhaps even worn spark plugs. More serious could be timing belt or blocked injectors.

have you cleaned air filter, checked spark plugs. always look at the small things first, ask your garage for a blow by test to see if you have compression problems could also be head gasket any timing issue would result in a very rough idle.

If it keeps eating belts I would look at how the pulley is installed, if it is pushed on too far it will have resistance and be misaligned with the other pulleys thus causing the engine to labour all the time. also have a good look at the rest of the pulleys and tensioners, It might be helpful to take the belt off and spin them individually, see if they turn hard or if there is any nicks

You will need to purchase a trouble code reader/eraser. Keep in mind, once you erase a DTC, the code will always come back if the PCM recognizes a hard fault code. This is a reminder that the vehicle needs attention. This reader/eraser is available at ant well supplied auto parts store for around $40.00.
