Question about 2002 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

Problems starting after short trips.

My 2002 GMC Envoy has difficulty starting after short trips. After starting the car in the morning, driving 5-6 miles and stopping, the car has difficulty starting. The engine turns over, but will not start on the first try. It usually takes 5-6 tries over 5-10 minutes. If I let the car sit for 10-15 minutes, it starts up first try. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I have taken it to the dealership several times but it will never not start when they have it. I am desperate to find a solution because I never know when it will act up, and it is happening much more frequently.

Sounds like you may have disconnected the battery. Does the rough idle only happen when the defroster or A/C is on? If so clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner with the battery disconnected. When finished, drive it for 5 or so miles with the defroster / AC off to let the computer relearn the settings. This will solve your problem.

I had same problem with 2005 Envoy XL 4.2L
After several trips to dealer with "No problem found"....I finally found a technician that determined my ignition switch was intermittently not reading the security chip in the key.
Replaced ignition switch and problem never re-occurred.

Change oil light

It's a nag lihgt to remind you to change the oil.

To reset the warning, turn your ignition key to on, but not start. Pump your gas pedal three times quickly and the light will disappear for another 3000 miles.

Envoy is running on highway and suddently turn off & wont start

This could be a bad key. Expensive but if necassary to replace to check on the symptom of the car since no codes are being thrown. I would also say check your Idle Air Control valve and your EGR valve to make sure they are working proplery
