I did have the same problem but my solution was that these Jeep's have two O2 sensors and I change both. then it worked

If you think it is fuel issue, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. There are some other tests you could try, but, too much liability, I can't be responsible for your safety.

My car is stalling when idling and sputtering when driving like it is losing power

Try some gas line anti freeze (methle hydrate) It will dissipate water which may have been at the bottom of the tank. If he put regular gas and you put super, add octane boost. and drive for half hour and it will clear.

Pcm?

there are 3 cables going into the front of the pcm. when its idling try wiggling those wires one by one. if it dies theres a bad solder joint inside the pcm...very common problem in many jeeps.

Engine overheats, loses power, starts back up but dies when put in gear

I hate to tell you this but... If it overheated you probably have at the very least blown a head gasket. The best thing to do is run a compression check and that will tell all. Hope that helps

5.7L engine idles fine until put into gear then starts cutting out and backfiring as you go down the road or let off the gas

more than likely has a bad distributor assembly..with high mileage they lose there magnetism..remove cap and rotor and check center windings for signs of cracking...cardone makes a good replacement distributor
