Check the battery and all the wires around it. corrosion and or loose connections.you might need to clean, fix, or replace...check both ends of ground wire from battery. and take your battery to a parts shop have it tested.

Why does my 1989 Olds cutless ciera starter connections get red hot when starting the engine.

Before you do anything make sure your battery cables are clean and tight. Loose cables can do this as well. If that's not the problem
sounds like your starter is drawing too much power and is on it's way out. Could cause a fire Better get it fixed.

Replaced fuel pump & filter. relay is working fine. car still want hold when you crank it.

My 89 Cutlass had a strange starting problem too...During cold weather she would crank, but she would not start...I could heat up the top of the engine with a hair dryer and she would start....Shop finally fixed her, replaced the COIL, the old coil was no bueno in cold weather!!!!

Stalls when hot

Try a crank sensor. It's just above the oil pan center between the engine and transmission. Look and see if the old one is cracked.
