I need to know torque specs and torque pattern for a 2001 head gasket on my 2001 sunfire

HINT: The "torque pattern" on ALL cylinder heads is start in the center and work your way toward the ends. The specifications below are "torque-to yield" or "torque angle" specs. When in doubt, about 65 Ft. Lbs. will work on pretty much ANY aluminum head. The main point is to get them EVEN to prevent warpage.

I need to know the torque specs for the head gasket for a 99 2.2 pontiac sunfire

Install cylinder head bolts finger-tight. New cylinder head bolts are recommended due to stretch of the old bolts.
Tighten bolts in sequence, tighten the long bolts to 46 ft. lbs. (63 Nm) plue 90 degrees. Tighten the short bolts to 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm)

Install pushrode and rocker arms and rocker arm nuts. Tighten nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).

Install valve cover and tighten bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

Torque on the oil pan bolts is 18 lb/ft. Tighten in a criss cross pattern slowly tightening the bolts down making multiple passes until you have them torqued.

go to your local library and check their reference section for MOTOR Manuals. They cover domestic cars back to the 60's and they have nice detailed torque tables for your car. You can make a photocopy *(my library has a free copier) of the needed pages and be on your way!

To replace rockerarm,do i need to remove the head?first 1 left side facing the car.

You should only have to remove the rocker assembly, the head bolts ussually hold the assembly on,but even if you remove them the head gasket will stay sealed. You'll have to get the torque specs and bolt down sequence, and check to see if its recomended to replace the head bolts. When you dissassemble the rocker assembly lay the parts out in sequece and reassemble in the correct order.Hope this helps.
