Question about 2009 Honda Accord

3 Answers

Does the 2009 Honda Accord EX have a timing belt or chain? I noticed in ALLDATA they give a part number for timing chain. Is it the 2.4L have a timing chain, and the V6 has the timing belt? A chain I wouldn't have to change, am I right?

Ok. For a 2.4L for maintenance, I would just have to do oil changes, brakes, etc? Like how long does the water pump go for? I have 32,800 miles

The 2.4L has a timing chain which is self adjusting and lasts the life of the engine. The v6 needs a timing belt replacement about every 90-105k miles.

around a 100k miles you could inspect and possibly change the water pump. Or just wait til it goes but if you want to do preventative replacement around a 100k would be just fine. Otherwise yes just do the standard maintenance on it and that should be fine. Other then that you might want to do a transmission flush about every 30k.
    Thank you,

The timing chain on a 2009 Accord 2.4L 4cyl does not last the life of the engine if you're not monitoring the oil level. Low oil levels will cause problems requiring the chain to be replaced from stretching due to heat exhaustion

Technically, never, this is not considered a part that fails or wears out. Timing belts? every 105,000 miles. These are on 2009 v6 Accords.

You can call Honda to get it. Make sure you write it down in your manual after you do get it, though, because you will likely need it again.

Timing belt on Accord 2004 v6 models

2003 and up Honda Accord with 4 cylinder engines do indeed have a chain and the V6 has a belt which must be replaced at 110,000 miles. Why? Ask Honda, they designed the engines.
